Nocturnal by nature, Bev Walton~Porter has been a professional writer, editor, and writing instructor since May 1997. She also writes under the pen names of Bev Sninchak and Star Ferris.

While attending the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Bev majored in Communication and minored in Philosophy, with an emphasis on Eastern belief systems. She also completed an independent study on death & dying in early pagan cultures.

Previously she attended Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma, where she majored in Mass Communication and Psychology. Bev continues to pursue an education in various subjects, including forensic psychology, literature, languages, and psychology.

She's published quite a few books, including Sun Signs for Writers (Write Nocturnal by nature, Bev Walton~Porter has been a professional writer, editor, and writing instructor since May 1997. She also writes under the pen names of Bev Sninchak and Star Ferris.

Bev also co-authored The Complete Writer: A Guide to Tapping Your Full Potential (Red Engine Press).

Over the years, Bev has been a member of a number of professional organizations, including The Authors Guild, Romance Writers of America (RWA), American Copy Editors Society (ACES), The Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA), Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP), American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE), The National Writers Union (NWU), Mid-America Romance Authors (MARA), Sooner Area Romance Authors (SARA), Enid (Oklahoma) Writers Club, Oklahoma Writers' Federation, Inc., Pikes Peak Writers, American Federation of Astrologers (AFA), Student Allies for Equality (SAFE), Erotica Readers & Writers Association, American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES), and Sisters in Crime (national and Colorado chapters).

Her nonfiction books are represented by the Meredith Bernstein Literary Agency in New York City.

Married with two adult children (one of whom is also a professional writer), Bev's hobbies include reading, watching documentaries, conducting research into obscure and/or weird subjects, listening to music, playing World of Warcraft, crocheting, and traveling.
