J.T. Swan spent 35 years in software development, but storytelling runs in his blood. He’s the son of a librarian, the grandson of an autobiographer, and a lifelong reader who always believed that good stories help us understand ourselves. Married for over three decades and a proud father of three, Jared writes with empathy, depth, and quiet conviction.

Creative writing still has the same components. We are bound by rules of grammar and principles of good storytelling. Yet, every storyteller has their own voice.

Welcome to my Blogs

I suppose I should introduce myself, but all that is in my bio. What I’m really introducing is my blog here. Since writing publicly is a new experience for me, and I’m still holding down a full-time job, it’ll take some time to get into a regular habit and routine of writing and posting interesting content.
For the past year, I’ve been posting my first novel on Substack. You can check it out here: Read more of this blog post »

Douglas Adams
“For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.”
Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

Albert Einstein
“If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales.”
Albert Einstein

“It is true intelligence for a man to take a subject that is mysterious and great in itself and to unfold and simplify it so that a child can understand it.”
John Taylor

Douglas Adams
“The story so far:
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.”
Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

Douglas Adams
“There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

There is another theory which states that this has already happened.”
