Dear readers,

I’m Carla and I write short and long fiction, depending how much ink is in the pen. I grew up in an unconventional family in an unconventional community surrounded by wild, wonderful and sometimes pretty weird people and, yes you’re right, a lot of that stuff does end up in my fiction. When it comes to stories – those I read and write – I love seeing ordinary people flirt with unexpected danger. I get excited about outrageous books and hilarious books. I like darker fiction, the kind that occasionally shocks. I also enjoy meeting unlikely heroes and discovering people’s secrets. My work has already appeared in Crime Fiction Lover’s “New Talent” section and on a handful of small press shortlists. I’ve written six short novels, t

Hi Renee, lovely to hear from you. Your studies sound exciting!
Well, thank you for asking. This is one of my general writer quotes, so it's not taken from an actual book. However, if you need to reference a book, you'd be best saying something like Carla H Krueger, Author of Coma House because the story of Coma House inspired me to write the quote. Does that help?! I really hope so...
Wishing you every success at University,

Thanks James! Being in a 'Most disturbing book' list is a compliment, but I hope the story made you laugh, too....
You're in luck. I just added a description of my inspiration for "Horse's Mouth" in the "writings" section. Check it out. The truth is, I worked in a cut-throat office where the windows didn't open and people manipulated and backstabbed each other on a daily basis. There was no one quite as bad as Kalist, but a few got close, I can assure you....
Hope you enjoy the real-life addition to the ride and thanks so much for your interest in my books.(less)

I Gave Up The Day Job Five Times (For Fiction)

descriptionI’ve been a dancer, an art dealer, a till worker, a physicist, a mortuary volunteer and a career consultant (and I’m still the latter), but the question is, how do those jobs help me write?

To set one record straight immediately, physics impacts my writing minimally. I discovered early on that mentioning it led people to wrongly assume I write sci-fi. The only aliens I write about are humans with o Read more of this blog post »

Carla Krueger There's also Dave Wilson, a former detective and music lover – he once interviewed Peter Hook! He's into thrillers like me.
His new book is called, 'When a Red Light Shines'.

Thanks to my mate "Markie" Mark for this kind comment.
