I spent my formative years in Southwest Philadelphia where I played every inner-city baseball game imaginable to youngsters. I fell in love with the game of baseball.
I moved to Cherry Hill NJ. and later attended Rutgers College.I followed that up with a masters degree in teaching. I taught high school in Glen Ridge(the alma mater of Tom Cruise) and subsequently Cherry Hill East(alma mater of Orel Hersheiser).
I left teaching and went to law school and developed a love for criminal law.I was a prosecuting attorney for 30 years in Camden County N.J.where I handled literally thousands of cases including 25 murder trials.I worked in criminal defense for six years in the firm of Helmer, Conley, and Kasselman in Haddon Heights.

Since I am a lawyer, I wondered if there had been a criminal investigation because Mays had a reputation for throwing bean balls. Then I thought about what would happen today if a pitcher threw a 95 MPH fastball at a batter's head and the unthinkable became a reality once again. What would today's public reaction be, and more importantly what would the reaction be of law enforcement. What if a pitcher were actually investigated by a grand jury? What if the unwritten rules of baseball were put on trial as well as the player?(less)

Dykstra vs. Darling

Ron Darling, former major league pitcher and current broadcaster, has just published a book about his time in baseball. Nothing new there, but it has gained some unfavorable notoriety. His book "108 stitches" could lead Darling to defend a defamation law suit brought by former Met and Phillies player Lenny Dykstra. Darling alleged that during game three of the 1986 World Series, Dykstra taunted Red Read more of this blog post »

Doubledf99.99 Thanks for adding me Harold. I was going thru my friends list yesterday and I was shocked that I didn't see you in my list. Thought I had that covered years ago.

message 2: by J.D.

J.D. Dudycha Harold,

My name is Jon Dudycha. I was wondering if you would be willing to give me any advice with my upcoming novel. This will be my first attempt at self-publishing.

The novel itself is a commercial fiction story centered around a minor leaguer. I have included a brief synopsis below:

Jack Burke isn’t your prototypical teenager. Blessed with a ton talent in the game of baseball, “Paint the Black” takes you through three seasons of Jack’s minor league baseball career. Even though his successes on the field have him climbing the proverbial baseball ladder, his off the field addictions carry him deep inside a rabbit hole of an immoral kind.

Without the help of a God fearing teammate, this prodigal could find his way broke, dead, or worst of all, out of the game of baseball for good.

Any help you could provide would be much appreciated. Thank you.
