I began writing Crystal's story back in 1995 when my children were very small and quite mischievous. And so, as I tended to my children, I tucked Crystal's story away, but never forgot her...she wouldn't let me forget.

For fourteen years, Crystal’s story simmered in my brain and in my heart, while I played with my daughters, gaining a greater appreciation for humanity's struggles and current earth changes. I dreamed of Crystal and Adam, David and Wyndon, Cosmo and Daniel, Claire and Vincent, Madelynn, Gina and all the others.

And then, in 2009 after witnessing a performer whose creative brilliance and passion inspired me to embrace my own passion, writing, I decided to instead of dream about my characters, to begin writing about them and Cry

Or, I take the time when nothing fresh is coming and rewrite previous passages. This is an ongoing task anyway, so I take the opportunity to fine tune scenes, dialogue, etc. when I can't seem to create anything new. Keep writing is the main thing. If I don't then it's harder to get back into the novel.(less)

I could create characters into forever. And, I love going into new scenes with a fresh perspective. Changing up the dialogue. Hacking off chunks of scenes too wordy. The editing process, for me, is empowering. I have the final say in my story. The characters are mine. The story is mine, straight from somewhere deep within my soul. It's amazing when I read what I've written and often wonder where in the world did this stuff come from. (less)

“I was looking for a job, david. I was walking up and down that bloody street and I had gone into a lot of stores. I remember I was really cold and it was really windy and then Ijust found myself standing on the top step. Then I went in, nothing special.”
PB Morlen, Illuminating Crystal

“but for my own part, if a book is well written, I always find it too short.”
