Player Movement and UI
So since this blog will now focus on game development, I'm going to try to post lots of works in progress. I always think they're fun to do since you can really look back and appreciate the leaps and bounds you've made.
To start off, here's a gif of my first benchmark:
So the goal here was to have an animated player "move" through a background using a dPad and also having the option for a user to switch which sides the dPad was on.
This probably would have taken me a few days had I done th...

Hey look it's April!
Bwahaha, I wrote my last post like four months ago. Some stuff has happened since then. I guess I'll try my best to break it down and end with hopefully a realistic and not just an optimistic note.
So my feelings from my post on my two careers haven't necessarily changed. I'm uncertain about whether or not I'll progress with the visual novel and here's why. I took about a month break after I finished the first rather lengthy storyline for the visual novel. No...

Woah, Dude, Hello
You know I came back here expecting to find it hacked and full of generic posts about travel destinations or sex enhancement devices. I suppose the blog being tied to my google account, which I use regularly and thus try to keep secure, kind of prevented that. I admit I'm a tad disappointed there weren't exciting advertisements keeping whoever bothers to read my blog entertained.
Unfortunately it look like I'm the only one here to do anything with this blog. And frankly I'm n...

A Tale of Two Careers
Not long after my last post, I had a sudden strike of inspiration. Since then I've been passionately working on a project with little rest, even to just take a brain break to play a game or watch a show. Before I get into what that project is, I'd like to tell the tale of two careers.
So I think somewhere I've discussed why I got into the video game industry, but I've been writing this blog for like five years now and posts have accumulated and I'm too lazy to do a proper search (t...

Progress?
What defines progress?
According to Merriam-Webster: gradual betterment
According to Dictionary.com: a movement toward a goal or to a further or higher stage
According to Oxford: Forward or onward movement toward a destination
So the general consensus appears to be that you are moving forward towards something of a destination. But, how do you define the direction of steps taken during that progress? How can you tell if it is backwards, forwards, or around in circles?
I've hit a b...

2014, why you gotta be so rude?
Yep, I just made a title with a lyric from 'Rude.' Think of me how you want, but that song will not stop playing on the radio and it has taken control of my brain.
Sorry I'm a little foggy right now. Got a cold or something. But, I haven't posted in like a month, so I figured it was time to post something.
2014 has been a rough year. I'm not sure anything good has come out of this year as of yet. I had such high hopes. 2013 sucked and I thought, it just can't...

Project Explosion
So like I said before, I'm only writing 1k a day for Project Sikaw. It is working out I think. Words get done, story progresses, draft nears completion. It's slow, but it does get done. However, that leaves a lot of day left. I really don't think I could write more on Project Sikaw. I'm just struggling with it, which is a bit frustrating because I think the general storyline is decent. I'm still hopeful that it just needs the bare bones down and then...

New Platform for 'Secrets of the Horizon'
So I'm currently trying my hand out on Booktrack. It's another platform for eBooks except this one adds a soundtrack to the experience. So stories will have background music, ambience, or sound effects that are triggered by a reading speed you set. It's really quite nifty and I've enjoyed some of the stories I've read on there.
It is something you can create on your own, so I thought I would give it a shot with Secrets of the Horizon . It's definitely a challenge, I won'...

Act 1 of Project Sikaw "Complete"!
I had to put "complete" in quotes because it's, you know, done-ish. It is incredibly rough... But, so it goes I suppose! Taking a step back and looking at it though, it is at least on track. The Union Stories generally run around 60k and Act 1 is almost 20k on the dot. So that's good to know. I mean when I go back and heavily edit, if I take and add it should still maintain about the right word count. I was worried I'd either have really sparse...

Slap it Down and Shut Up
So over my vacation I put it upon myself to work out an outline for the next Union Stories book (aka Project Sikaw). I actually know, for once, all the acts of the story. I know what is to happen from start to finish, though some of the finer details are fuzzy. And I know what the character's main conflict is and how it needs to affect the story.
I know all the things.
However, mental constipation can be a real bitch. I seem to have it a lot actually. My head will...
