I write suspenseful tales about "real" people (that means slightly weird and definitely flawed) with an offbeat, humorous slant in a travel-inspired setting.

Some of my earliest and fondest memories involve travel--more specifically, escaping into books, whether devouring the latest Beverly Cleary or biking to the library to spend a few hours with Stephen King. A childhood subscription to the Weekly Reader's Book Club yielded stacks and stacks of timeless, memorable titles that he has since shared with my own children.

Inspired by author/artists such as Jack Kent, Wende and Harry Devlin and Margaret and H.A. Rey, my own storywriting efforts took the form of cartoons and comic strips throughout most of my youth--there was writing involved, bu

I would travel to the New Iberia, Louisiana depicted in James Lee Burke's Dave Robicheaux series. He writes about the place so vividly and with such romantic imagery that it comes off as this side of paradise. Which is why it's so disturbing how often it's disrupted with crime, corruption and violence.(less)

However, she never stopped thinking about me, and around my 40th birthday, she located me through the adoption agency (amazingly, still in business). Lines of communication were opened, and a satisfying relationship was forged. The whole ordeal planted the seed for "Battle Axe," which is in no way autobiographical. I tried to imagine what it would have been like if I HADN'T known I was adopted...and what if the person who eventually found me maybe WASN'T my true birth mother after all, but knew everything about her. You can see how this could get twisted pretty quickly. It was immensely fun to write, as I hope it is to read, and I doubt I would have ever come up with it if I hadn't been recently "found" myself.(less)

Blarney Rubble: Cover reveal!

Cover reveal! I had hoped to release it today, in honor of St. Patrick's Day, but the cover will have to do (courtesy of Mike Sottong). With a little "luck," the book will be available very soon. If you'd like an Advance Reader Copy to review, let me know and I'll add you to the list!
