Matthew D. Ryan is a published author living in upstate New York on the shores of Lake Champlain. He has a background in philosophy, mathematics, and computer science. He also has a black belt in the martial arts and studies yoga. He has been deeply involved in the fantasy genre for most of his life as a reader, writer, and game designer. He believes he saw the legendary Lake Champlain Monster (a.k.a Champy) once and he has a cat named Confucius.

Usually, I take that as a si…moreI usually don't get writer's block. I get writer's burnout. I can keep writing if I choose, I just won't enjoy it at all. Usually, I take that as a sign to take some time off and do something else, unless I'm at a critical juncture, in which case, I just try to slug it through. The worst, though, is when I get depressed. That can occur without warning and can be devastating to my writing schedule. I think I've lost as much as three months that way, which is very frustrating.(less)
