100 Word Mystery
The woman is dead, that Detective Patricia Robertson knows for sure. How she got into the washing machine is unknown. One does not just accidentally fall into a side-loading machine. She feels the clammy wet hand of the naked woman.
“Either she was either put into the machine from a shower or someone started a load.” Patricia says to her partner.
Patricia hears a muffled gah-dunk of sheet metal. “Ah!” She feels the familiar burn of soap in her eyes. “Someone’s up there!” She rips down the overhead vent.
“I didn’t know she was in there!” Says the quivering man.

The things you miss
I just got back from a lengthy, relaxing, and vexing vacation to the South of France for a month. I speak what the Canadian's call 'Cereal Box French', which means that I know the words for 'wheat', 'sugar', 'chocolate' and 'part of a nutritious breakfast'. I know my numbers, up to twenty, the days of the week and various nouns (strangely 'ghost' and 'horse' came in handy). I say this because what I missed the most about being in a country where I do speak the language fluently was eavesdropping. I love to eavesdrop, and I love making up stories in my head about the parts I can't hear or missed. I even love eavesdropping on mundane conversations. I listened today, my first day back, to two women behind the Customer Service desk talk about how they arrange things in excel. Frankly, I was in heaven.
If you are an obsessive eavesdropper like me, I recommend a cruise vacation, especially one to Mexico with lots of sea days. People on cruise ships love to talk, about anything, to just about anyone. And right now, I'm so down for that!

Characters
Best place to find that random character? Starbucks. I stood behind a guy that could easily pass for a thirty year old washed up rocker professor Snape. Complete with over dyed jet black hair, braces, knarly toes poking out of his sandals, and holding a copy of The Hunger Games

Annoying songs!
The only problem with writing about annoying songs that get stuck in your head, is that they get stuck in your head while you write about them!
