Heading to Sicily tomorrow
Tomorrow, the hubster and I head to Sicily to celebrate his 50th birthday. We're both looking forward to returning to Sicily, and this time we'll be staying in Catania, on the east coast of the island.
Apparently, Mount Etna's been a bit active the last few days--which I guess is not surprising since it is Europe's most active volcano. But they say the activity has decreased since the eruptions on 30 May. That's good. It means we won't have to cancel or postpone our trip.
While we're there, I will be plotting a novella set in southern Italy and seeing if any inspiration for a Sicilian love story comes to mind. I'll also be reading My Lemon Grove Summer by Jo Thomas, which was just published yesterday. It's set in Sicily, so it will be fun to read a feel-good novel set there.
Mainly though I think we'll focus on imbibing copious amounts of delicious Sicilian wine, eating gelato and looking for the best cannoli--because who can resist cannoli?
