I was born in Bucharest in 1950 and moved to the United States in 1977. I hold a Master’s degree from the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest and an MBA from the University of Connecticut. I live in Maryland with my wife, Viorica, and we have two adult children.
I started writing in high school, publishing many short stories in literary magazines. After the 1989 Romanian revolution, I began contributing to a Romanian literary weekly. I published several novels and short story collections in Romania, including The Runners, Smoke, Planet New York, One Morning and One Afternoon, and The Visitor.
