Hello Spring! The birds are out, the flowers are beginning to bloom, and the days are finally growing less rainy. I love the new beginnings that changing seasons bring. Actually, I love new beginnings of all sorts. That's why I wanted to share a little bit of my own.

My debut, Sashé Boudreaux: Beignets, Bones & Buried Secrets has just been named the Winner of the First Horizon Award by the Eric Hoffer Book Award. The First Horizon Award is given each year for superior work by debut indie authors. Since Sashé is my first cozy mystery and the first book in a new series, winning this prestigious award feels like beautiful days are ahead.

Book 2, Sashé Boudreaux: Entanglements, Espionage, and Étouffée, is coming! I can't wait to share it with you. Be on the lookout this summer.

I wanted to give you an update on how Sashé Boudreaux: Beignets, Bones, and Buried Secrets is doing five months after releasing her as an indie author.

It’s been quite an adventure, and I’m grateful to share a bit of good news.

Sashé reached #1 Best Seller in her category on Amazon on my birthday! I didn't see that coming!

On top of that, she’s been named a Finalist in the Eric Hoffer First Horizons Award, an honor I didn’t expect.

What I’ve learned over the last year is that independently publishing a debut with no prior social media, platform, or name recognition at the ripe old age of 67 is daunting, to say the least.

Trying to learn technology and marketing has threatened to break my brain more than once.

I’ve also proven that the old saying, “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks,” isn’t true. I may be slow, but I’m learning!

Throughout this journey, I’ve been so encouraged by everyone who’s taken a chance on Sashé and shared their thoughts with me personally or via reviews. Thank you so, so much!

I’ve got a lifetime of stories that have been bottled up, just waiting to get out. Sashé 2 is wrapping up and will be coming soon, and book 3 is in the works.
