DEBORAH RANEY's first novel, A Vow to Cherish, inspired the World Wide Pictures film of the same title and launched Deb’s writing career. Twenty-five years, forty-plus books, and numerous awards later, she's still creating stories that touch hearts and lives. Her novels have won RWA's RITA Award, the ACFW Carol Award, the National Readers Choice Award, and the HOLT Medallion. She is also a three-time Christy Award finalist. Deb is a recent Missouri transplant, having moved with her husband, Ken Raney, from their native Kansas to be closer to kids and grandkids. They love road trips, Friday garage sale dates, and breakfast on the screened porch overlooking their wooded backyard. Visit Deb on the Web at www.deborahraney.com.

You can always go back and fix it later. (less)

Hi Anne,
What a fun question to answer! Both of my daughters, 10 years apart in age, attended Southeast Missouri State, met their husbands the second day of college, and married and settled down in Southeast Missouri. They are both elementary school teachers, and I will soon have four grandchildren in Missouri. We visit often, and love Cape Girardeau. I figured it would be fun (and make the research easy) to write about a place I often visit and have grown to love.

I'm delighted to know you are enjoying the book. (Be sure to read the first two books in the series! Home to Chicory Lane and Two Roads Home...with two more to come! I just finished Book 4 last night!)

Thanks again for asking, and great to catch up with a Missourian on Goodreads!(less)

Such a sweet story . It shows how a family with secrets can survive when love outshines the secrets. So much like life when we allow Gods Word to direct our lives even in the tough times. Forgiveness and healing is always the better way to" Read more of this review »

“I’ve been surrounded by love. I know now what the Bible means when it says that His grace is sufficient, that His peace passes understanding. It’s all so true.”
Deborah Raney, Nearly

“It is my baby, and it seems that I’m the only one who can protect him. The only one who really loves him. If I let him go, he won’t belong to anyone. Shouldn’t he have at least one person in this world…one person in his life to whom he truly belongs?” She looked at Paul with pleading in her eyes, in her voice. “Don’t we all deserve to belong somewhere? I can’t just desert my baby now. What happened wasn’t his fault. He shouldn’t have to suffer—but he will anyway. He will, and I… I want to be the one to dry his tears and…and tell him how much God loves him…how much I love him…” She started to cry.”
Deborah Raney, Because of the Rain

“No, that night, words were his weapon of choice. And they had inflicted far deeper wounds than his fists would in the months that followed.”
Deborah Raney, Remember to Forget
