Romano Rizzato, with a pseudonym Sergio as an illustrator, was born in Milan on August 21, 1936, he lived and worked alternately between Milan and Tuscany.
At the beginning of the 1950s he attended evening courses in life drawing at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. These were years in which he would tour museums and cathedrals to learn about ancient and recent art, both Italian and European, which would be the other side of the study of a non-objective language that would lead to the field of abstract painting. These were also years in which he collaborated with the team of the Piccolo Teatro in Milan, under the guidance of Ezio Frigerio, in the preparation of prose and opera performances at the Piccola Scala.
