I live with my family on a small farm in the Northeast Georgia mountains. I write full-time. I was born and raised in Africa, where I wrote radio soapie scripts for around three years — thousands of pages of it. At least that taught me dialogue! I published three short stories in a national magazine and wrote two plays that were successfully staged.
Here in the U.S. I earned a masters in theology from Emory University in Atlanta, and self-published four non-fiction books. I feel that the MTS degree was a good move to get my writing started up again. Did they make me write!
I've recently completed my first novel, "Yesu's Baboon," of which I am inordinately proud.

More of Gerhard's books…
Lev Grossman
“Most people carry that pain around inside them their whole lives, until they kill the pain by other means, or until it kills them. But you, my friends, you found another way: a way to use the pain. To burn it as fuel, for light and warmth. You have learned to break the world that has tried to break you.”
Lev Grossman

D.H. Lawrence
“I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself.”
D.H. Lawrence, The Complete Poems of D.H. Lawrence

D.H. Lawrence
“What is the knocking?
What is the knocking at the door in the night?
It is somebody who wants to do us harm.

No, no, it is the three strange angels. Admit them, admit them.”
D.H. Lawrence, The Complete Poems of D.H. Lawrence
