“It’s destiny; the stars have aligned perfectly to bring us together as friends. You cannot argue with what’s meant to be, once the stars have spoken, it is absolute,” he uttered, all smug and knowing.
Shocked that he used the word destiny, I cocked my head and shot him a look—for the first time actually seeing Parker. He was pretty…too pretty to be a guy; streaky blond hair—as if each streak had been strategically placed—dark eyes, pale skin, and a charming smile that dimpled in one cheek.
“Destiny has already found me, with a clearly marked path for my future,” I retorted.
“Then you are doubly fortunate, to have it find you twice.” Parker smiled again, his eyes eerily piercing into mine.

He stopped in front of me, all cool and calm.
Seriously? I wanted to smack him. And that smug expression behind that sexy smile. As panty dropping as ever.
“Hello, Beautiful,” he spoke in a smooth, velvety tone, taking another step closer and slipping an arm around my waist. His hand touched on the middle of my back as he pulled me to him, his lips brushing a kiss on my cheekbone.
Holy hotness. That hand, touching to the exposed skin on my back, and those lips, touching my cheek, so close, it was hard to breathe. As if a direct current shot through me, a lightning strike, everything inside me coming alive for the first time in seven years. His lips whispered along my cheekbone as he pulled back, blue eyes smoldering, locked on mine.
Oh, my.
I was experiencing one of those surreal, this-can’t-be-happening, moments.

She softened against me. Just melted… like warm honey over a delicious, steaming hot country biscuit. Warm honey I’d like to pour all over her and lick off slowly and meticulously.
Such a heady feeling, to have that kind of an effect on someone. Maddison could deny it all she wanted to, but I knew better. I could feel it, her body humming against mine, the want in her eyes, the way her lips parted and her tongue slid over them. She just felt I had some explaining to do, that’s all. I’d get to that. “You can’t deny it, baby, I see it in those kiss me eyes of yours.”
“Huh! They’re probably just reflecting back the dirty in yours,” she retorted derisively. I gave a hearty laugh.
Shit, I’d missed sparring with her. The bickering banter back and forth. Proof of the underlying fierce passion between us. “You know it, princess,” I countered, just to taunt her. But what I really wanted to say was Touché, for her quick wit and sass.
