Katerina Markadakis is an author of emotional healing fiction and self-help for women recovering from emotional neglect, attachment wounds, and relationships that taught them to abandon themselves.

Her work explores silence, longing, self-trust, and the quiet unraveling that happens when love is inconsistent. Blending relational psychology, women’s healing, and story, she writes for readers who are ready to understand their patterns, reclaim their voice, and come home to themselves.

She is the author of Legacy of Letting Go and Legacy of Avoidance, with four upcoming novels in The Legacy Series: Legacy of Silence, Legacy of Longing, Legacy of Healing, and Legacy of Becoming.

Through her books and healing work, Katerina helps women rebuild emot

For me, the hardest part was staying with someone who couldn’t love me fully.

Letting go is painful — but staying in a space where your needs are unanswered, your heart is quieted, and your worth is slowly negotiated down… that’s a different kind of ache.

When someone can’t stay, you grieve the loss.
When someone can’t love you fully, you grieve yourself.

You grieve the softness you tucked away.
The words you never said.
The version of you that kept hoping they would finally meet you where you were.

I had to learn that loving someone shouldn’t require abandoning myself.

And sometimes the real letting go isn’t of the person —
it’s letting go of the version of you that thought half-love was the best you could get.

I wish more self-help books acknowledged that healing isn’t linear, pretty, or Instagram-worthy.

I wish they talked about the messy middle —
when you know the truth, but you’re still grieving the fantasy.
When your head understands the pattern, but your body still misses the person who hurt you.
When you’re doing the work, but you feel lonelier than before.

I also wish books talked more about the emotional hangover that comes with setting boundaries — the guilt, the fear, the old stories that rise to pull you back.

Most of all, I wish they said this more clearly:

Healing doesn’t make you stronger because you “toughened up.”
It makes you stronger because you finally softened toward yourself.

The work isn’t becoming perfect.
The work is learning to stay with yourself — especially on the days you feel unlovable or undone.

That’s the conversation I try to create in my books:
honest, compassionate, human.

The Stories We Carry — and the Ones We Have to Release

Some wounds do not begin with shouting.
They begin with silence.

They begin in the places where love felt inconsistent, where needs felt inconvenient, where we learned to become smaller, softer, quieter—just to keep the connection.

So much of my writing lives there.

I write for the woman who loved deeply.
Who tried everything.
Who explained herself too many times.
Who stayed too long hoping love would be Read more of this blog post »
