A Date Week Teaser, Podcast Style

Date Week by Ted Fox Hey Friends--

I hope that you're enjoying some great reading no matter where in the world this finds you.

It's a big month for me because, as you may know, my new novel, Date Week, comes out in just over a week on June 25. This one is a rom-com that, fittingly, takes place over the course of one week in late June, so hopefully you (and a whole bunch of other people) will find Will and Rachel's story to be the perfect summer read.

You can learn more about Date Week and enter the giveaway for a free Kindle edition right here on Goodreads. I also have a new episode of my Working Drafts podcast out today, on which I talk with my longtime literary agent, Jessica Sinsheimer, about how this book came to be and the collaboration between authors and agents more generally. That's available at the link to my website above as well as pretty much anywhere you get your podcasts.

Thanks for reading and for your support.

Happy New Year! (+ Podcast)

Hey Friends—

Happy New Year!

I hope the eve of 2024 finds you all doing well and enjoying some great books. I only ended up reading 14 in 2023, in part because I was writing and editing my next novel, Date Week, which I'm excited to share with you this June. But as my wife, who is the most voracious reader I've ever known, reminds me, it's not about how big that number is. It's about the joy of reading itself.

For me, that joy obviously extends into writing, as well, and one of my favorite things to do is talk about the craft of writing books. If that's something you're also interested in, I thought the start of the new year would be a good time to remind you about my podcast, Working Drafts.

I've released six episodes so far, five of which featured a guest and one where I flew solo. Regardless of whether I'm talking to someone or just to myself, the idea is the same: to talk about some element(s) of the writing process in a half-an-hour or so. New episodes come out on the 15th of each month (okay, most months), and you can get them pretty much anywhere you listen to podcasts.

Happy reading (and listening).

Ted's New Writing Podcast

Hey Friends--

Hope you're doing well when- and wherever you're reading this.

This is just a quick note to let you know that I'm drawing on my love of books and background in audio to launch a podcast.

The show is called Working Drafts and will feature conversations between other writers and me on the craft of writing. But rather than focus on published books (although those will surely come up), we’ll instead be digging into the issues they’re sorting through in their works in progress.

The trailer is available now on my website as well as through AppleSpotify, and various other podcast platforms.

The first “real“ episode is coming June 15, and new episodes will drop each 15th of the month thereafter. I hope you'll check it out.

It's Official

Hey Friends--

If you're reading this, you presumably enjoyed my novel Schooled and/or are related to me. Either way, I have good news:

My next novel was officially announced today!

(I'm generally skeptical of exclamation points, but that one felt warranted.)

The book is called Date Week, and we described it to Publishers Marketplace as "a genre-bending rom-com about soon-to-be-dad Will who convinces four-months-pregnant wife Rachel to embark on a spontaneous road trip meant to lift her spirits about a missed job opportunity, resulting in humorous misadventures, honest conversations, and a mistake that threatens to upend their marriage."

Date Week is scheduled to come out from Lake Union (my publisher for Schooled) in summer 2024. I'm grateful to both my agent, Jessica Sinsheimer, and my editor, Erin Adair-Hodges, for giving me the chance to bring it to readers—and of course to all of you for being some of said readers.

So, thanks. :)

Campaign for the American Reader

Following the launch of Schooled, Marshal Zeringue at the Campaign for the American Reader invited Ted to participate in both a Q&A and The Page 69 Test.

For the latter, he was asked to look at page 69 of the book and assess how good of a window it is into the broader novel.

Read the Q&A

Read Ted's Page 69 Test

And here's Marshal on why page 69.
