Walking My Talk: Co-creating with Nature

For the past twenty years, I have developed a relationship with nature that has been more grounded in spirtuality rather than day-to-day reality.

The concept for MIRANDA's MAGIC GARDEN, my first children's book, came in a dream. The imagery was in animation form and at first, I could only envision the project as performed. A chance meeting with a published children's book author guided me to begin by writing the story down in book form.

Since I knew very little about physical gardening principles, it was necessary to steep myself in research. My own home garden was languishing, while Miranda's featured sunflowers that reached fifty feet into the air!

The irony of this finally occurred to me, and as I began to physically engage with my outdoor garden, the book finally began to bloom.

Recently, I returned to my home base of Los Angeles after a two-year sabaticcal in the forests of Tennessee. When I returned, I was unsure of my next step, and where to focus my energies.

Through a series of synchronistic encounters, including dreams, I was guided to develop an urban landscape that I have named SERENITY GARDENS.

In retrospect, it is the perfect embodiment of all I have learned through my interaction with nature spirits, and my beloved Mr. Kiki who still communes with me. But, it was not consciously directed by me. I believe it was a spiritual intervention to assist me in getting back on track.

The gardens we all tend need not be physical ones; they can also be ideas that we manifest to further our personal growth.

Ultimately, gardens are the metaphor for how we live our lives: planting seeds, tending to their well-being, enjoying the harvest, and eventually letting go. The recycling of energy never ends, but is a spiral that continues through eternity.
