Kathleen Adams is a cultural anthropologist affiliated with SOAS, University of London, and Loyola University Chicago. She credits her childhood in San Francisco and her French-Italian immigrant heritage with fostering her interest in multicultural issues, tourists, and tourism. The author of multiple award-winning books, Adams' work addresses the cultural aspects of tourism, migration, heritage, and the arts.

Adams was a Fulbright Scholar and is a Fulbright Specialist (2023-26). Her long-term research has been in Indonesia (Sulawesi), with shorter-term work elsewhere in island Southeast Asia and California.
