I absolutely loved Some Quiet Place and I can't wait to read Where Silence Gathers! How did you come up with the idea of personified emotions? And are you working on any more YA novels, especially any ones set in the world of SQP?

To answer your question, I came up with the idea for SOME QUIET PLACE one day when I’d typed something totally cliché, like, “Fear rooted me in place.” I sat back, frowning, and wondered how I could make this utterly unique from other moments consumed by fear. Somehow, that fear became a tall, blonde, snarky creature that roams the earth and instills terror into every human being simply by touch. It became Fear, who is now one of my favorite characters.

As for what I'm working on, I'm always writing! My project is definitely young adult. I don't know if I'll ever write another book set in the world of personified emotions, but that door is never closed! It's just a matter of being inspired and finding the right story. (less)
