The few times I have ever had writer's block, it's usually because the pen has caught up to the mind and all I need to do is wait a day or two and more story will be available to write down. If you look at it that way and don't freak out, life is much easier and you won't develop an emotional block, which is much harder to deal with.(less)

As a writer, you get to fill the chest with treasure and bury it where it will be difficult to find. Then you get to watch while some people search for the treasure and others simply curse the existence of the chest. The watching is the most perverse but enjoyable part. (less)

Rusty Biesele I'm currently focussed on writing literary fiction that is a blend of fantasy and science fiction with a bent toward making those things seem current and realistic. "The Owl from Oblivion" is being rewritten in a literary fiction style with a tremendous amount of characterization being added and some new plot points. It's quite different in a lot of ways. I am also extensively illustrating the book and its physical form will have a "family heirloom feel", like it was meant to be passed down generation after generation. This is quite hard to do and still have the book being capable of being massed produced. To follow my adventures and see excerpts of writing in progress, follow my twitter: @TPBookSeries ( http://www.twitter.com/TPBookSeries )

Rusty Biesele In a few days my Kickstarter for The Owl from Oblivion will start. Here is the preview for the project so you can get an idea what this is about: http://www.childrenofsophista.com/p/b... I'm hoping you will support me through Kickstarter so that I can continue to produce innovative books with a very unusual point of view on humanity.

message 25: by Rusty

Rusty Biesele I will be running a Kickstarter at the end of January to raise money to get more professional edits of Book #5, "The Owl from Oblivion", make a large super-high quality offset print run, and to build the infrastructure necessary to be able to get the book into bookstores nationwide. Essentially I will become a peer to professional publishing. If you are curious, you can get a sneak preview of the #Kickstarter NOW using this link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...

Rusty Biesele Uploaded to Goodreads a sample of the first 6 chapters in PDF format. Goto book #5's Goodreads page and click "Read". The book can be preordered here: http://www.childrenofsophista.com/p/b...
When the book is out, purchasing it from this website will always be much cheaper than anywhere else. Most other places it will be ridiculously expensive.

Rusty Biesele Sitting here trying to decide whether or not to do another Goodreads giveaway. Truthfully (feel free to show me I am wrong) it seems like most books I give away here end up on a shelf for months. When I give them away on my Facebook page, they are read rather quickly. Just saying...

message 3: by Rusty

Rusty Biesele I'm thinking at the moment of when book #2 comes out, that I won't do a general giveaway but do a giveaway involving those who rated book #1 a 4 or 5. My thinking is that it does little good to give away book #2 to people who haven't read book #1 or who didn't like book #1. What do people think? Ideas welcome.

message 2: by Rusty

Rusty Biesele Merry Christmas everyone.

Atreyeu imparts artistic talent to Paul25 during the Renaissance (book #2).

They don't have Christmas on Sophista but a Christmas present that would be high on many people's list would be if someone could touch your mind and bring latent artistic talent to the surface so you could suddenly paint.

message 1: by Rusty

Rusty Biesele The character, Ty, thinks this: The one constant in all of the evolutionary phases of humans and their descendant life forms is the ability to simply discard rather than fix a life form that is deemed defective in some way. (From the Saeshell Book of Time Part 1)
