H D Bailey grew up in rural Western New York. He was introduced to Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time at ten, and has been reading and writing fantasy ever since. He is a graduate of Hiram College, where he studied Chemistry. Since graduating, he has worked in manufacturing in multiple high technology industries.

He currently lives in Michigan with his wife and children.

Reading will help give you a better scope for your writing, especially if you read beyond your chosen genre. Writing - even if what you are writing is uninspired, will give you experience and exercise your writing "muscles". It will help give you insight into your voice and perhaps areas that you need to work on.
Beyond that, remember that the best writing is not done in a vacuum. Friends (call them "editors" or "beta readers") can often see problems that you have missed, because when you read your work, you are reading it as it is "supposed" to be.(less)
