The Salt Debate: What Really Supports Optimum Health?

In my health counseling practice, when I ask clients if they use salt, they frequently tell me, “No, I eat a low-salt or no-salt diet for health reasons.” But in fact, salt is one of the most critical groups of minerals we need to ingest on a daily basis. What many people don’t realize is that the word “electrolyte” is simply a chemical term for salt. And we absolutely need electrolytes to be healthy. When salt dissolves in the water of our blood, it breaks into tiny charged bits. Blood carries those bits through the body so nerves can send messages, muscles can move, and fluid can stay where it belongs. We cannot hydrate properly with water alone. As Dr. David Brownstein says, “Without salt, life itself would not be possible.” (1) Scripture treated salt as life, not as an enemy. In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus says, “You are the salt of the earth.”The widespread misconception about salt stems from the fact that most conventional medical doctors, who are generally not taught about nutrition, make no differentiation between white, refined salt and unrefined, mineral-rich salt.White refined salt is primarily one mineral compound: sodium chloride. In contrast, mineral-rich mined salts (such as Himalayan pink salt, Bolivian Rose, Redmond’s Real Salt, Celtic sea salt, or other unrefined salts) contain far more than just sodium chloride. White refined salt has been stripped of the other minerals that are naturally present in mined salts.Unrefined, mineral-rich salt is essential for life because our enzymes cannot function without it. These natural salts contain valuable trace minerals that contribute to overall health, including small amounts of magnesium, potassium, calcium, iodine, and many others.Mineral-rich salt helps support the proper balance of the endocrine, adrenal, and thyroid glands so they can function at their best. It also supports healthy blood pressure, aids the body’s natural detoxification processes, and—together with adequate water—is necessary for the optimal functioning of the immune system, hormonal system, and cardiovascular health. (2)Dr. David Brownstein, a leading thyroid expert and author of “Salt Your Way To Health”, recommends a minimum of one teaspoon of mineral-rich salt in an adult’s daily diet for best overall health. He notes that if we consistently take in less than that, the body can actually become toxic.Dr. Brownstein has also written some wonderful books on this subject, which I highly recommend. Two in particular include “Iodine: Why You Need It and Why You Can’t Live Without It”, 5th edition and “Overcoming Thyroid Disorders”, 3rd edition.. He has also joined me on my radio show. Click here if you wish to listen. Some people are shocked by this recommendation. Yet according to my friend Dr. Bryan Ardis, a large research study involving 500,000 people across 49 countries over a 20-year period (published in 2016 by Tel Aviv University) examined salt consumption and health. The study found that a person needs approximately 5,000 to 11,000 milligrams of salt every day, and that this range is associated with a lower risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke. (3)When I heard this, I carefully analyzed the one teaspoon recommended by Dr. Brownstein and found it to be in perfect alignment with the findings of this large study.Every day in hospitals, patients are given a standard bag of intravenous fluids. A typical liter bag contains 9 grams of sodium chloride—9,000 milligrams of salt. More than half of that weight is chloride. This concentration matches the normal osmotic pressure of blood and is used to treat dehydration, blood loss, and shock. For perspective, Dr. Ardis explains that a large empty capsule (like a supplement pill/capsule) filled with mineral-rich salt holds about 1,000 milligrams. According to the study, we would therefore need the equivalent of at least 5 to 11 of these capsules daily. After thoroughly studying issues such as athlete sudden death, dehydration, heat stroke, and related concerns, Dr. Ardis spent eight years developing his hydration supplement, Hydrate Complete. It was formulated to help replenish 40 of the essential nutrients our bodies need—including 11 minerals, 11 vitamins, 17 amino acids, plus Betaine—all of which can be lost through sweating.Hydrate Complete is designed to support heart health, energy levels, and deeper protection against heat exhaustion and dehydration. I have personally started drinking one or two servings every day and find it refreshing. It also comforts me to know I am getting all 40 of those nutrients into my body each day.We do not simply sweat out salt water alone. Even one serving of this supplement provides under 1,000 milligrams of salt minerals. For this reason, we all still need to add additional mineral-rich salt to our daily intake alongside Hydrate Complete. You can learn more by clicking here. If you wish to try it, please use this link and the discount code “Nancy.”According to the National Library of Medicine (MedlinePlus), common signs of dehydration include: (4)  •  Feeling very thirsty  •  Fatigue or low energy  •  Headaches or dizziness  •  Muscle cramps  •  Dry skin, mouth, or eyes  •  Rapid heartbeat or palpitations  •  Dark urine or decreased urination  •  Confusion or disorientation  •  In severe cases, seizuresStaying properly hydrated is essential for overall health. It supports heart health, physical performance, recovery, immune strength, and endurance. When we sweat, our body can lose many minerals, and these minerals need to be replenished. Unrefined, whole, mineral-rich salt contains these minerals. Mineral-rich salt can also help support the body’s natural balance by contributing to a more alkaline environment. Maintaining a slightly alkaline pH is important for overall health. Most of us grew up using white refined table salt, but it actually lacks numerous minerals that are present in whole, natural, mineral-rich salt. Refined table salt is approximately 98 percent sodium chloride, but unfortunately it often contains anti-caking agents, chemicals, preservatives, and even sugar. Although iodine is added to many refined salts, the amount is generally insufficient “to prevent thyroid illnesses or to provide for the body’s iodine needs.” (5) Because iodine dissipates after exposure to oxygen, table salt is not a reliable long-term source of this essential nutrient. In addition, many of our modern food sources lack vital minerals and nutrients. Soils have become depleted, and refining and processing remove many (or all) of the nutrients originally present in foods. One significant reason for this mineral loss is the extensive use of herbicides on crops, especially ‘Roundup Ready’ products that contain the chemical glyphosate. Glyphosate is a mineral chelator, meaning it strips minerals from everything it touches. As research has shown:“Glyphosate-based herbicides (GBHs), consisting of glyphosate and formulants, are the most frequently applied herbicides worldwide. The declared active ingredient glyphosate does not only inhibit the EPSPS but is also a chelating agent that binds macro- and micronutrients, essential for many plant processes and pathogen resistance. GBH treatment may thus impede uptake and availability of macro- and micronutrients in plants.” (6)The Restorative Medicine Clinic puts this in simpler terms:“Glyphosate depletes essential minerals and promotes heavy metal toxicity. Glyphosate impairs the ability of plants to uptake minerals from the soil and decreases plant nutrient density. Additionally, glyphosate acts as a chelator, which means it binds and removes minerals from the soil and the body, even in small quantities. These factors have contributed to the widespread deficiency in many minerals in the body and soil, including magnesium, zinc, copper, cobalt, manganese, and iron. Since glyphosate is a chelator, it also has the ability to bind heavy metals and transfer them into the body.” (7)For me, this has been one of the strongest reasons to seek out and consume organically grown fruits and vegetables whenever possible.Salt cravings are often a signal that the body may be depleted in nutrients, minerals, and electrolytes. They can also indicate that the thyroid and adrenal glands need additional mineral support. If you have been craving salt or have been under significant stress, you may want to consider adding a drop of iodine to your daily diet to help support thyroid health. We do not have many reliable food sources of iodine, yet it is extremely important. The form I personally use and recommend is Nascent Iodine from The Health Ranger Store.Standard white table salt is heavily refined. Underground salt deposits are mined, heated to high temperatures, and stripped of natural trace minerals such as magnesium and potassium, leaving mostly pure sodium chloride. For this reason, I avoid ingesting it. I am also aware that this is the type of salt commonly used in many processed foods unless otherwise specified.Dr. Brownstein notes that low-salt diets “promote toxicity” and can have adverse effects on numerous metabolic markers, including elevated insulin levels and insulin resistance. He further states that low-mineral-rich-salt diets can lead to mineral deficiencies and the development of chronic disease. (8)In 1994, The British Medical Journal published a study conducted in the Netherlands. Researchers examined 100 men and women between the ages of 55 and 75 who had mild to moderate hypertension. When common refined table salt was replaced with mineral-rich salt high in magnesium and potassium, the study showed a reduction in blood pressure comparable to that produced by blood-pressure-lowering medications and without the pharmaceutical drug side effects. (9)There are various types of mineral-rich salts, each with slightly different mineral profiles. I encourage you to try a few and decide which one you prefer. Celtic sea salt is often described as high in minerals, yet because it comes from present-day oceans it can contain mercury and microplastics. Personally, I prefer Bolivian Rose salt and Real Salt by Redmond, which are mined salts.Mined mineral-rich salt tends to be cleaner and more nutrient-dense because it was formed when the oceans were far less polluted and during a more nutrient-rich time in Earth’s history. Minerals give salt its natural color, so look for salts with a pink or rosy hue. Natural, unrefined salt is not white, because tiny bits of other minerals are still in the crystal. Those minerals catch the light differently, so the salt looks pink, rose, or gray. The pink in many pink salts is mostly a little iron. That color is a clue the crystal was not stripped clean. A totally white salt has often been bleached and stripped of its minerals. In conclusion, research shows that we will tremendously benefit from including at least one teaspoon or more of high-quality, mineral-rich pink salt in our daily diet. I also find that it simply makes food taste better. As Dr. Brownstein would say: Salt Your Way To Health!Note:If you would like to learn more on how to use mineral-rich salt, iodine, hydration strategies, or a more individualized approach to supporting your thyroid, adrenals, and overall energy, I encourage you to explore my books, (5 of which are in audio), which offer practical, natural ways to nourish the body more deeply, or I would be honored to work with you as a health counselor.

Not All Waters Are Created Equal: Why True Hydration Matters

Drinking water is more important than you might think. Just because you are “drinking a liquid” does not mean you are hydrating your body.I grew up not thinking much about water or how important it was for my health. But from the moment I began researching holistic health and nutrition more than forty years ago, one truth became clear: one of the most important parts of having good health is being hydrated.I learned this valuable information from Dr. Fereydoon Batmanghelidj MD’s books, which focused on the healing power of water. He treated and cured approximately 3,000 prisoners suffering from what he called chronic intracellular dehydration. Water is a key ingredient for our health and well-being because our bodies are 66–72 percent water. Water is the elixir of life. Blood uses water to transport oxygen, nutrients, and antibodies to all parts of the body. Here is a list of some of his books: “Your Body’s Many Cries for Water, Body Thirst Signals and the Damage of Chronic Dehydration”, “Water: For Health, For Healing, For Life: You’re Not Sick, You’re Thirsty!”,“Water Cures: Drugs Kill – How Water Cured Incurable Diseases”, “Water: Rx For A Healthier, Pain-Free Life”, and “Water and Salt: Your Healers from Within”.Water is the living medium that carries nutrients, oxygen, and the body’s own subtle signals from one system to another.People have studied water for centuries, and it still remains a mystery. Dr. Gerald Pollack’s decades of research at the University of Washington revealed that water can form an ordered, gel-like structure next to certain surfaces—what he calls the fourth phase of water, or EZ (Exclusion Zone) water.Decades earlier, Japanese Doctor of Alternative Medicine, Masaru Emoto, published photographs and research in his books, such as “The Hidden Messages in Water”. He claimed and showed in his photographic experiments that water, which had been frozen after exposure to positive words (such as love and gratitude), were gorgeous crystals in various unique shapes, while water exposed to negative words (such as “hate”), formed unpleasant, messy shapes. He stated that human intention, music, and prayers can physically alter water molecules. These studies continue to invite both wonder and careful scientific attention. This makes me wonder what our thoughts can do to the water in the cells of our body. Some definite food for thought! Because of his research, I make certain that my water containers always have positive messages on them.I started addressing water quality when my children were young, after learning that U.S. municipal water often contains chemicals, residues, pharmaceutical drugs, and other contaminants that can affect our health. As I watch my grandchildren play sports through long, hot summers, I realize that now, more than ever, they need non-toxic, mineral-rich water to maintain their health and well-being.Dr. Bryan Ardis observed the serious consequences of dehydration, heat exhaustion, and mineral loss in athletes and even young children during sports. Over the past eight years, he has developed a nutrient and mineral-rich supplement that replenishes what the body loses through sweat. It is, in some ways, more hydrating than just about anything else I know of. (If you wish to order, use my link and the discount code “Nancy” for a discount.)Every year (especially during summers of intense heat) brings many reports of heat-related illness, collapse, and even death among athletes who become dehydrated. That reality, together with decades of study, clinical work, and my writing of six books on holistic health, continues to shape how I approach water, and how I teach others when counseling them.Research shows that water that has been placed in or next to certain surfaces can form an ordered state that behaves differently from ordinary municipal water, and may consequently play an important role inside our living tissues. Something as simple as using a copper water bottle can be a real game-changer. Copper is a required structural part of the antioxidant enzyme “copper-zinc superoxide dismutase” (Cu/Zn-SOD). This enzyme neutralizes harmful “superoxide” free radicals in the body, and without enough copper, this enzyme cannot function properly. How Much of Us Is WaterThe adult body is roughly 60 percent water. Of this, the brain and heart contain about 73 percent, the lungs about 83 percent, the muscles and kidneys around 79 percent, and even bone holds approximately 31 percent. Every cell relies on this fluid to move nutrients and oxygen, regulate temperature, support digestion, cushion joints, and allow our internal systems to communicate.By the time we feel thirsty, we are already dehydrated. Early signs include dry mouth, darker urine, fatigue, and lower urine output. Children are especially vulnerable, particularly when illness causes fluid loss. Hot weather increases both water and mineral loss through sweat.Airplane travel is extremely dehydrating because the air inside the cabin is very dry, so fluid is lost through the skin and breath during flight.Caffeinated and alcoholic beverages can make the problem even worse. When I am at the airport and need to buy a drink, I look for pure coconut water. It contains no added chemicals and is packed with natural minerals (electrolytes), making it extremely hydrating. One of the standout nutrients in coconut water is potassium. A single cup provides about 400 milligrams of this mineral, which plays a crucial role in muscle function and heart health. Many popular drinks—especially diet sodas, flavored waters, sports drinks, and low-calorie beverages—contain substances that can actually work against true hydration and cellular health. Two of the most concerning ingredients are aspartame and monosodium glutamate (MSG). Dr. Russell Blaylock, a neurosurgeon and author of the book Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills, has written extensively about these compounds. He explains that aspartame and MSG belong to a class of chemicals called excitotoxins. These substances can overstimulate neurons in the brain. When neurons are overstimulated for too long, they can become exhausted, and eventually damaged or destroyed.²²Aspartame is the artificial sweetener found in many diet sodas, sugar-free drinks, chewing gums, and flavored beverages. MSG is commonly used as a flavor enhancer in processed foods and some drinks. Both are widely present in products people reach for when they think they are “hydrating.”Many commercial sports drinks also contain a range of additives. In the past, some citrus-flavored sports drinks, including earlier versions of Gatorade, contained brominated vegetable oil (BVO). Research raised concerns that bromine-containing compounds can compete with iodine and potentially interfere with normal thyroid function.²³ While major brands have since removed BVO, the broader point remains: many sports drinks are loaded with ingredients that do little to support true cellular hydration.True hydration is not simply about putting liquid into your mouth. It is about giving your cells pure water, and the minerals they need to function properly.A rough guideline I have used for years is approximately one ounce of pure water for every two pounds of body weight each day, along with a small amount of high-quality unrefined mineral-rich salt, such as Redmond Real Salt. I drink most of it between meals because drinking large amounts during meals can interfere with thorough chewing, dilute digestive enzymes, and may also contribute to digestive problems.Across many cultures, including Traditional Chinese Medicine, drinking warm or hot water has long been a daily wellness habit. Digestion works best when the stomach and intestines are warm and relaxed. Warm foods and beverages are easier for the body to break down, while cold drinks require extra effort to process. When the body repeatedly has to warm cold liquids, it uses energy that could otherwise support digestion and nutrient absorption.²⁴ Choosing warm or room-temperature mineral-rich water can be a simple yet powerful way to support both hydration and digestive comfort. What Happens When Water Is Not CleanMost city water contains chlorine, fluoride, and other unwanted substances. Chlorine was first developed as a chemical weapon. It can destroy Vitamin E in the body and disrupt beneficial probiotics in the intestines. Industrial chemist J.P. Bercz, PhD, showed in 1992 that chlorinated water alters and destroys unsaturated essential fatty acids (EFAs), the building blocks of the brain and central nervous system.¹Chlorine is commonly used to kill disease-causing organisms in water from rivers, lakes, and reservoirs. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), it is essentially a pesticide. A University of Minnesota researcher, Dr. Robert Carlson, whose work was sponsored by the EPA, stated that “the chlorine problem is similar to that of air pollution” and that “chlorine is the greatest crippler and killer of modern times.”¹⁷When chlorine reacts with organic matter in surface water, it forms disinfection by-products (DBPs), including trihalomethanes. Studies have linked long-term exposure to these by-products with increased risks of certain cancers.¹⁹ Our skin is our largest organ. While showering or swimming in chlorinated water, chlorine is absorbed directly into the bloodstream. Research continues to link swimming in chlorinated pools to various health concerns.² Residual chlorine can also shift the balance of bacteria living in the gut.In addition to chlorine and fluoride, many municipal water supplies now contain trace amounts of pharmaceutical drugs. These include antibiotics, hormones, antidepressants, pain medications, and other prescription and over-the-counter drugs. They enter the water primarily through human excretion, improper disposal of unused medications, and agricultural runoff. Conventional water treatment plants are not designed to fully remove these compounds.²⁰ Even at very low concentrations, long-term exposure to mixtures of pharmaceutical residues raises concerns about hormone balance, antibiotic resistance, and effects on developing children.²⁰ ²¹Fluoride added to many municipal water supplies is sodium fluoride, a byproduct of aluminum and fertilizer manufacturing. It is different from the calcium fluoride that occurs naturally. According to Dr. Paul Connett, PhD:“Fluoride is a cumulative poison. On average, only 50 percent of the fluoride we ingest each day is excreted through the kidneys. The remainder accumulates in our bones, pineal gland, and other tissues.”³Dr. Connett notes that the level of fluoride put into water (1 ppm) is up to 200 times higher than normally found in mothers’ milk.⁴ Research has raised questions about possible effects on thyroid function, bone health, and other systems.¹¹⁻¹⁶ Several European countries do not add fluoride to their water supplies.Details Concerning Bottled And Purified WaterEPA standards for the Clean Water Act do not apply to bottled water. There is little regulation on bottled water, which is why I recommend a purification system in your house. In fact, according to the Natural Resources Defense Council:“The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency oversees the quality of water that comes out of your tap, while the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is responsible for ensuring the safety and truthful labeling of bottled water sold nationally. States are responsible for regulating water that is both packaged and sold within its borders (which is most of the market), but one in five states doesn’t even bother. It’s important to note that the federal government does not require bottled water to be safer than tap. In fact, just the opposite is true in many cases. Tap water in most big cities must be disinfected, filtered to remove pathogens, and tested for cryptosporidium and giardia. Bottled water does not have to be.”²⁵Bottled water is often simply municipal water that has been treated and placed in plastic. Plastic can have many negative effects on the body. Bottled water in plastic containers can also release microplastics and nanoplastics into the water, especially when exposed to heat or stored for long periods. These tiny plastic particles are increasingly being found in the human body and are a real health concern. I highly recommend avoiding plastic and aluminum containers whenever possible, and using glass, pure copper, and high-quality stainless steel instead. If you are using a reverse osmosis system, ZeroWater filter, distiller, or a Berkey® system—some of the better filtering systems for purifying water—these systems can remove many contaminants but also strip away beneficial minerals. Adding a small pinch of unrefined mineral-rich salt helps restore what filtration has taken away.Minerals That True Hydration RequiresHeavy sweating removes more than water. It removes magnesium and copper—minerals the body needs for energy, muscle function, and protection against cellular stress. Magnesium takes part in hundreds of enzymatic reactions. It is required for muscle contraction and relaxation, a steady heartbeat, and the production of cellular energy. Low levels appear quickly as cramps, fatigue, and slow recovery, and in severe cases can contribute to serious cardiovascular events.Copper, though needed only in smaller amounts, supports enzymes that produce energy inside the mitochondria and helps the body use iron properly. When copper is low, resilience declines. Most commercial sports drinks replace sodium and sometimes potassium, yet they almost never replace magnesium or copper in a highly usable form. Clean water, together with full mineral support, is the wiser approach.Foods and beverages that supply both fluid and minerals—fresh fruits and vegetables (such as watermelon, apples, oranges, and cucumbers), coconut water, and herbal teas—offer healthy hydration alongside pure mineral water.Water That Carries More Than MoleculesWater is not only a liquid nutrient. Structured water may be significantly more hydrating. Structured water may support hydration by organizing H₂O molecules into hexagonal clusters, potentially improving cellular absorption, nutrient transport, and whole-body wellness—benefiting the brain, joints, kidneys, and skin.Structured water may also carry electrical and vibrational information within living systems. Methods that filter, structure, and enrich water with molecular hydrogen—the smallest antioxidant molecule—have received careful scientific attention. Studies show that hydrogen-rich water can support the body’s antioxidant defenses and help reduce everyday oxidative stress.I share these approaches as part of an ongoing inquiry, not as final answers. My work has always centered on clear education and practical steps people can actually use.Simple Daily Practices  •  Begin the day with a glass of clean, mineral-rich water (warm or room temperature is often easier on digestion).  •  Drink from glass, pure copper, or stainless-steel containers.  •  Add a small amount of unrefined mineral-rich salt to purified water.  •  Avoid sugary, artificially sweetened, artificially colored, and synthetically mineral-fortified drinks.  •  Choose foods and beverages that provide both fluid and minerals, such as organic fresh fruit, vegetables, and coconut water.  •  Eat organically grown foods that naturally contain mineral-rich water.  •  Limit unnecessary chlorine exposure from swimming pools and municipal tap water.  •  Drink extra mineral-rich clean water before, during, and after air travel.  •  Consider structured, hydrogen-rich water and thoughtful mineral support as part of a coherent plan.  •  A few slices of citrus or a sprig of mint can make pure water more inviting and delicious without changing its character. The Animals in Our CareThe same principles apply to all living creatures, including dogs, cats, and horses. They also depend on clean water and adequate minerals for energy, muscle integrity, and resilience in heat. Animals can dehydrate quickly, especially when active or heavily coated. Chemically treated water places the same challenges on their health as it does on ours. As both a holistic nutritionist and an international wildlife rehabilitator, I always make certain they have a plentiful supply of clean water at all times—especially during hot summer months and cold winter times when drinking water can freeze.Clean, mineral-rich, structured water is one of the most fundamental supports we can offer ourselves and those we love. When nutrients such as magnesium and other essential minerals are present, the body is better able to meet the demands of heat, activity, travel, and ordinary daily life.In a world of chemical exposures, refined foods, and constant environmental stress, returning to pure, well-structured water is both a practical and an intelligent choice.I am available as a health counselor for those who wish to know more or who face a serious health challenge. My books offer detailed information on health, nutrition, and recipes. For those interested in a structured, high-pH, hydrogen-, light-, and frequency-infused water system, I recommend the LifeWave X₂O™ technology. You can watch videos about it here:  • LifeWave X₂O™: Enlightened Water, Elevated Hydration https://vimeo.com/1179996235?fl=pl&fe=sh  •  X20 Benefits Based on 3 Clinical Studies with David Schmidt https://vimeo.com/1171623419If you would like to learn more or order, visit my LifeWave page:https://lifewave.com/nancyaddisonIf you do order, I would greatly appreciate it if you use my referral number 1439757 so I can support you in using the technology effectively. In Closing, try to start with small, precise changes. Drink pure, mineral-rich water in the morning—preferably warm or room temperature. Reduce sugary and artificial drinks. Pay close attention to the quality of the water and the minerals available to both the people and the animals in your life. And remember… improving the quality of your water may be one of the most important things you ever do to maintain a long healthy life.Source 1. Parasites Are A Problem For Our Health

When my daughter was in the Peace Corps in Mali Africa, I became acutely aware of the dangers of parasites. I had grown up not knowing about them at all.  When I was young, I rode horses, had pet dogs, cats, chickens, opossums, rabbits, and more. Neither my doctor nor veterinarian ever mentioned that all these animals can carry parasites and pass them on to me.When I began to study health and healing on a deeper level, I discovered that parasites are actually a common problem for many people. They are often the cause of many ailments that are frequently said to be “genetic”. This diagnosis makes us feel like we can‘t do anything about it, and it can make us feel powerless if we are challenged with this situation.I began writing my health and nutrition books/cookbooks to share the knowledge I had learned about actual cures for many ailments using natural Divinely-Given Remedies instead of allopathic pharmaceutical drugs. “Allopathic medicine is the system of medicine in which doctors and other healthcare professionals treat symptoms and diseases using drugs, radiation, or surgery.” I had so many family members and friends dying of diseases using the allopathic medical protocol and pharmaceutical drugs, that I came to the conclusion that “their program”was not working
well at all.
I proceeded to embark on a Holistic Health journey studying nutrition, quality of food, water, environment, and emotional components. I researched the optimal ways to be healthy and to raise my children in this world today, so they could live vibrant, joyful, healthy long lives.I started researching health and nutrition over 40 years ago, and in doing so, I discovered the work of Dr. Gordo Crozier DO. According to Dr. Crozier, an integrative physician in Orlando, more than 60 million people in the USA are infected with parasites. “Because parasites are spread by pets, contaminated water and improperly handled food, they’re becoming an increasingly common health threat in the U.S.” (1)I decided to look into this and add this information into my books. Unbelievably the book publishers would not publish my books unless I removed this vital research and information regarding parasites and detoxification. Knowing that these facts and remedies were some of the most important information in my books, I decided to protect my work and self-publish so that I could stay in control of this vital information affecting our health.Would you be shocked or surprised to hear that I have learned that many health challenges today, including diarrhea, constipation, irritable bowel, cramps, bloating, malabsorption, mucus, fatigue, nausea, skin rash, dry cough, lymph blockage, allergies, joint pain, brain fog, memory loss, dermatitis, headaches, floaters in the eye, MS, and even cancer can actually be a result of parasites? In just the past two years, I have been learned from countless doctors that many of our everyday common health complaints could actually be parasites and toxic overload in the body. How can that be? I have learned from the CDC’s website that the US municipal tap water has feces in it. Feces have parasites In them. In a brochure that you can get at your veterinarians office called “Parasites and You”, it contains a graph of all known parasites that can transfer from your pet to you.We can also obtain parasites from other things, such as ingesting dirt particles that are not completely washed off of food, eating meat, walking barefoot outdoors, traveling in other countries, drinking tap water, and swimming in lakes or ponds.Yet, I have been told that Medical Doctors are taught in Medical School that parasites are a third world problem, and that they don’t exist in America. The parasite tests that the Medical Doctors do with Lab Corp and Quest are called comprehensive tests, yet they only test for 1 type of parasite, the protozoa, even though there are around 40 various types that are known to exist in North America. If you want to find out if you have parasites, you can get a comprehensive test from the Parasitology Center, (PCI) in Scottsdale, Arizona. PCI Wellness, link: https://pciwellness.com/ref/84/The PCI Wellness parasite cleanse protocol is the one I do, twice a year. I do it because I have pets and do things where I know I am exposed to parasites. Dr. Ardis recommends this parasite cleanse as well.According to Dr. David Jockers, the eggs of these parasites hatch during full moons, so he has a full moon parasite cleansing protocol. (2)What are Parasites?“A parasite is a living organism that lives off of another living organism, which is called a “host.” There are three basic classes of these organisms”, according to Dr. Jockers. (3)“Protozoa: These parasites are single-cell microscopic organisms that can multiply or divide within the host. They are transmitted from person to person through fecal matter, blood, or insect bites. An example is the parasite Plasmodium, which causes malaria.Helminths: These are worm parasites. They are larger, multi-celled organisms that may be visible to the naked eye. Examples are roundworms, pinworms, trichina spiralis, tapeworms, and flukes. It is estimated that half of the world’s population (over 3 billion people) is infected with at least one of three worms: roundworm, hookworm, or whipworm (4).Ectoparasites: These live on (rather than in) their hosts. Ectoparasites are also described as “blood-sucking arthropods.” Examples are lice, bed bugs, and fleas.” (5)In the US, parasites are often misdiagnosed or undiagnosed. But I have learned over the years that many of the “diseases” people are diagnosed with can actually be caused by parasites. In fact, according to Columbia University parasitologist Dickson Despommier, “About half the world’s population (over 3 billion people) are infected with at least one of the three worms forming what he calls the “unholy trinity”—large roundworm, hookworm and whipworm. (6)Dr. Bryan Ardis was on my radio/TV show a few times in the past year, and he said that if you have a pet, then you have parasites. He mentioned this as he was expanding on how he believes MS could actually be caused by parasites in the brain. (7) The Rocky Mountain Lab conducted autopsies on people who died of MS and found parasites in the tissues of the brain and spinal fluid of all of them. Dr. Lee Merritt has done some video interviews and shows concerning her understanding that most cancers are actually parasites and parasite eggs. She said she was taught in medical school that “there really wasn’t a parasite problem in people in the US.” (8)There is a problem, and Dr. Merritt believes there is a lack of education for health care providers on this subject and health challenge. In one of her recent videos, she addressed the parasite/cancer situation: “Cancer is Parasites, the Scientific Evidence, and What to Do About it.” (9)In this video, she stated that “They have known that Cancer is caused by parasites since 1906. A Nobel Prize was given for this discovery then covered up.” (10) She goes on to say that symptoms caused by parasitic infections are usually misdiagnosed because they are similar to many common ailments. Some of these examples are:A peptic ulcer may actually be a roundworm infection. Diabetes and Hypoglycemia can be a result of tapeworms. Parasites could be the cause of health challenges like chronic fatigue, hypothyroidism, type 1 diabetes (T1D), multiple sclerosis (MS), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and Crohn’s disease.  I have come to the conclusion, after speaking with many doctors and doing a lot of research, that parasites mainly feed on sugar, toxins, heavy metals, (including mercury), and red blood cells. (We can get mercury from the new energy saving lightbulbs, skin care products, dental fillings, vaccines, fish, and tap water.)Unfortunately, parasites also feed on the essential nutrients in our body. They deplete their host (human, animal, fowl, fish) of nutrition, while at the same time excreting toxins, adding to a toxic overload in the body. I understand from my research that we, in the US, are living in a pretty toxic-saturated environment. Typically, we can be exposed to approximately 40 to 400 chemicals a day from air, water, food, cleaning fluids, fire retardants, EMF’s, energy saving devices, insect sprays, lawn fertilizers, herbicides, body care products, sunscreens, and the list goes on.Dr. Ardis mentioned that he believes we could realistically be exposed to as many as 5000 chemicals a day! As long as we have these chemicals in our body, parasites have an abundance of food to attract them and support them.  Dr. Bernard Jensen, an expert in colon research and therapy, states that “the average person over 40 years of age has between 5 and 25 pounds of buildup in their colon. . . Parasites of all sizes thrive in this undisposed residue of fecal matter, slowly but surely toxifying the whole body.” (11) 90% of Americans have Parasites We’re talking about nasty critters like whipworms, tapeworms, roundworms, and toxoplasma.Gut problems like these are usually the first sign:  •  Stomach cramps  •  Vomiting or nausea  •  Loose stoolsBut parasites don’t just harm your digestion. If you feel like you are always hungry, always tired, have achy joints, depression, rashes, hives, insomnia or disrupted sleep, itchiness (frequently in the private parts), yeast flare-ups, abdominal pain or cramping, diarrhea, bloating, coughing or wheezing, food allergies, weakness, or dizziness, you may indeed have parasites. (12)Dr. Peter Wina, chief of patho-biology at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, says, “We have a tremendous parasitic problem right here in the US. It is just not being addressed.” (13)Joseph Sterling wrote in his newsletter, Secrets of Robust Health, that parasitic infection is common: Humans can play host to over 100 different kinds of parasites, ranging from microscopic to several-feet-long tapeworms. Contrary to popular belief, parasites are not restricted to our colon alone, but can be found in other parts of the body: the lungs, the liver, the muscles and joints, the esophagus, the brain, the blood, the skin, and even in the eyes. (14)Some common symptoms of parasitic infection are: constipation, gas and bloating, diarrhea, back pain, joint and muscle pain, irritable bowel syndrome, allergies, insatiable hunger, itchy ears, nose, or anus, unpleasant sensations in the stomach, nervousness, grumpiness, chronic fatigue, lethargy or apathy, various skin problems, problems sleeping, nutritional deficiencies or anemia, problems with the immune system, teeth grinding or clenching, weight gain, forgetfulness, dizziness, and blurry vision. These symptoms are all worth trying to remedy with a simple detoxification cleanse. The most important thing with a good parasite cleanse is that you stick with it as exactly as directed, in order to get rid of all of the egg sacks and the hatched larva that the parasites may have laid in the body.Whenever there is a full moon, parasite eggs usually hatch. Knowing that, it would be a good idea to start a parasite cleanse during a full moon, and continue your cleanse at least a week or two after a full moon.Following are some natural ways to help keep your body’s immune system so strong, that it will help prevent parasites.Use the PCI Wellness Parasite Cleanse Protocol. https://pciwellness.com/ref/84/ Eat raw organic fruits and vegetablesIt is especially important to make sure you are eating raw organic fresh fruits and vegetables with your meals, because these contain live enzymes.Raw plant-based enzymes take apart foreign proteins and expose the hidden parasites, which have cloaked themselves in a protein coating. The immune system cannot see the cloaked parasites, so it doesn’t know that it needs to get rid of them. This is especially true for someone who eats a mostly meat diet. But, when you eat raw, organic vegetables and fruits, the body has a plentiful supply of enzymes that go searching for proteins to eat. It is these enzymes that search the body and find and ingest the protein coating off of the parasites and egg sacks, revealing them to the immune system. The immune system sees the danger and destroys the yeasts, parasites, and any other pathogens.According to the Britannica, the foods and essential oils of spices and herbs can be used to help remedy a parasitical infestation. (15)Spices and herbs are “parts of various plants cultivated for their aromatic, pungent, or otherwise desirable substances. Spices and herbs consist of rhizomes, bulbs, fruit, seeds, leaves, barks, flower buds, and stigmas. They are commonly divided into the categories of spices, spice seeds, and herbs. (16) GarlicGarlic, throughout history, has been used to treat many health challenges, including viruses, fungi, bacteria, parasites, and cancer. It is a powerful food. It can even chelate (remove) heavy metals from the body. Ingesting garlic can also be a way to prevent mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas from wanting to bite you. (17)Black Walnut-Nuts & HullThe nuts and green hulls of black walnut (Juglans nigra) are a favorite of holistic health herbalists because of their ability to cleanse the blood and the intestines. Black walnut hull is used to cure fungal infections. The juice taken from the green hulls is used to kill parasites. Only green hulls should be used. (18)Wormwood – (Ivermectin is the pharmaceutical version of Wormwood)Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) is a perennial herb with tiny yellow-green flowers. The leaves and flowers are frequently used as a stomach problem remedy, and are an effective remedy for intestinal worms. It is advised to avoid taking wormwood if you are a nursing woman. Wormwood has powerful antimicrobial attributes, and can be used for many other types of infections. (19)ClovesClove buds are an important herb used in Ayurvedic medicines for the treatment of gastrointestinal infections and for worms. This treatment has been used for thousands of years. Cloves contain a powerful oil (eugenol), which has been researched and found to help in the eradication of many pathogens in the gut, including parasites. Clove oil has been found to dissolve the eggs left behind by worms. It is believed to be the only oil that destroys almost all parasite eggs. Clove is such an incredibly strong broad-spectrum spice/oil/herb because of its antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and powerful antimicrobial properties. (20)ThymeThyme is one of the most effective herbs for stimulating the thymus, a major gland of the immune system. Thyme contains natural volatile oils which are known to help strengthen the immune system. The essential oil of thyme can eliminate the growth of many parasites, and it can kill them in the intestinal tract, as well as reduce intestinal cramping. (21)Oil Of OreganoOil of oregano is one of the most powerful essential oils. It is important to buy one that is not diluted down with olive oil or another carrier oil. This oil is extremely powerful in crushing free radicals, and it is antiparasitic, antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal. It is an indiscriminate destroyer of the bad pathogens, and can aid in resetting the microbial environment in the intestines. Many studies show the effectiveness of essential oil of oregano with everything from parasitical infections to cancer. There is a study that shows an Inhibition of enteric parasites by emulsified oil of oregano in vivo. (22)Diatomaceous EarthFood grade diatomaceous earth (which is finely crushed sea shells) is what I frequently use for eliminating fleas and ticks in my yard and on my pets. Diatomaceous earth absorbs methyl mercury, E. coli, endotoxins, viruses, organophosphate pesticide residues, and drug residues. Its positive effects include killing intestinal parasites, balancing the intestinal flora, killing viruses, and absorbing toxins. (23) It is highly recommended for intestinal cleanses, but it is a very fine powder, so avoid inhaling it.Reishi MushroomsReishi mushrooms grow wild on decaying logs and also on trees. Reishi mushrooms have anti-tumor and anti-oxidative properties. They can promote lower blood pressure and lower glucose levels. Reishi mushrooms have been used to successfully treat hepatitis B, glomerulosclerosis, ulcers, and they are also antifungal and antiparasitic.(24)Pumpkin Seed“Pumpkin seeds and pumpkin seed oil are rich in fatty acids, zinc, copper, sterols, anti-inflammatory agents, and amino acids. Pumpkin seeds are used to treat worms, especially tapeworms. Even though it’s not the fastest parasite killer; it works. The recommendation is to eat raw, organic, sprouted pumpkin seeds every day for several weeks.” (25) I freshly grind them up and sprinkle them on my salads, as well as my pet’s food.Pomegranate SeedPomegranate has many health benefits, and for decades the pomegranate seed has been used to treat infections from the most common parasites found in humans: roundworms, pinworms and tapeworms. (26)Bentonite Clay
Bentonite clay is a volcanic ash containing a multitude of minerals. Historically, Native Americans used it for detoxifying and cleansing their bowels. They called it Ee-Wah-Kee, meaning “the mud that heals.” Bentonite has the ability to bind with toxins, drugs, and heavy metals, and draw them out of the body. Many of those are actually what parasites feed on.I had a cyst on my wrist, and I didn’t want to have surgery to remove it. I started using bentonite clay on a daily basis with my High-Fiber Cleanse. Within three weeks, the cyst had disappeared. Dr. Merritt said to me that the cyst was probably a parasite egg sack. (27)Strongly polarized, bentonite clay has a powerful electromagnetic field when hydrated. It can attract and hold on to various forms of radiation, and it has the ability to pick up a great deal more than its own weight in positively charged particles. Dr. Jensen, ND, DC, PhD, suggested using bentonite clay to absorb the radiation in your bones, which are often subjected to radiation through the use of X-rays, computers, television, and radiation treatments for cancer. (28)The medical community has found bentonite clay to have amazing healing properties. One study by a research duo from Arizona State University’s Biodesign Institute and College of Liberal Arts and Sciences found that “Unlike conventional antibiotics routinely administered by injection or pills, the so-called “healing clays” could be applied as rub-on creams or ointments to keep MRSA infections from spreading. . . The clays also show promise against a wide range of other harmful bacteria, including those that cause skin infections and food poisoning. . . Their study, one of the first to explore the antimicrobial activity of natural clays in detail, was presented at the 235th national meeting of the American Chemical Society, the world’s largest scientific society. . .” (29)In addition to finding that MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) was susceptible to bentonite clays, they found the clays exhibited antimicrobial effects against Mycobacterium ulcerans (which is related to tuberculosis, and results in a flesh-digesting disease) and two causes of food poisoning: E. coli and Salmonella. (30) Arizona State University found that some bentonite clays were contaminated. So, only use food-grade bentonite clay that is specifically labeled safe for internal use. (31) I also recommend using a wood, plastic, ceramic, or glass bowl and spoon when using bentonite clay. Avoid using a metal bowl and spoon, because the metal will react with the clay and reduce most of its healing properties.Bentonite clay can bind with a lot of various toxins, like mercury, EMF’s, graphene oxide, and even some parasites. I use food grade for people and pets, because this helps eliminate the food the parasites feed on.Here is a link for some Food Grade Bentonite Clay Capsules I have recommended to my clients.Activated CharcoalAnother supplement that can eliminate the toxins that parasites feed on is activated charcoal. Activated charcoal is also wonderful for nausea and diarrhea in people and pets. Here is a link for one brand that I have used. Wild Activated Charcoal Capsules from 100%  Organic Coconut Shells.I recommend taking your healthy nutritional supplements in the morning. Then I recommend taking the detox supplements 1 or 2 hours after the evening meal, because we naturally detoxify overnight.Herbal RemediesAlways use caution when working with herbal remedies, because some of them should not be combined with others. Do your research. The good news is that any side effects from herbs are less likely to bother you than anything on the warning label of every single pharmaceutical. In your research, you might ask a knowledgeable herbal practitioner before taking any of the above suggestions, especially if you are pregnant or nursing.A healthy diet should be followed whenever doing a cleanse, but especially when taking broad-spectrum antimicrobial supplements. You might weaken some of the beneficial bacteria in your body, and you will want to replenish these, because these beneficial bacteria are what create your immune system. Here are a few of my favorite parasite remedies.Iodine SupplementationIodine supports our thyroid and is missing from most foods today. It dissipates when it touches oxygen, so white iodized salt is not an effective way to ingest iodine. I read Dr. David Brownstein’s book, “Iodine: Why You Need It, Why You Can’t Live Without It” many years ago. He explains how we need iodine on a regular basis, to be healthy and to have our thyroid function properly. He says “It is impossible to achieve your optimal health if you do not have adequate iodine levels. He says iodine deficiency can contribute to: breast cancer, fibrocystic breast disease, detoxification, fatigue, Graves’ disease, and Hashimoto’s disease and may be the root cause of thyroid problems including hypothyroidism and thyroid cancer.” (32) As a Certified International Wildlife Rehabilitator, I know that animals require iodine also. I recommend at least one drop of iodine a day for cats and dogs. I like the Nascent Iodine sold by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger. What I have learned since then is that iodine is antimicrobial and can disrupt the cellular structure of intestinal parasites. It can also disrupt parasite metabolism, making it more difficult for them to survive. (33)The bentonite clay, pumpkin seed, moringa leaf powder, and psyllium husk cleanse is one you can make at home.Moringa leaf powder has a variety of health benefits, from increased wound healing to managing blood glucose. (34). This cleanse can help rid your body of many types of parasites.I have been doing a cleanse like this for almost 40 years.Ingredients:1 tsp. organic psyllium husks1/8 teaspoon (or less) bentonite clay1⁄2 tsp. freshly ground, fresh, organic, raw sprouted pumpkin seeds½ tsp. raw, organic moringa powder8 oz. purified waterThere are various anti-parasite cleanses on the market. My favorite cleanse at the moment, is the one developed by the PCI Wellness. They are generational parasite experts. Their cleanse has more ingredients that can also help rid the body of fungus and bacteria, which can go hand-in-hand with parasites. When doing the parasite cleanse for the first time, you may need to do it for an entire three months (90 days). I recommend this, because you want to make sure you rid your body of the parasite as it goes through all of the stages of life. You do not want it to re-emerge in the future, which can happen if it is in a stage not addressed by the cleanse. This parasite cleanse is called the “Freedom Cleanse and Restore” Protocol recommended by Dr. Bryan Ardis. PranaPets Intestinal Defense Supplement for Dogs & Cats | Naturally Helps Digestive Issues in Pets | Herbal Formula When my daughter joined the Peace Corps and moved to Mali Africa, she lived in a mud hut with a dirt floor, no modern bathroom, no electricity, no running water, and she had to get her water from a well. She also ate all the food the villagers made her, in order to maintain her friendly relationship with the people. It is a terrible insult in many cultures around the world to turn down a food or drink offering. While my daughter was living in that tiny rural village, she started feeling ill, and was diagnosed with parasites. She had to do some tough parasite cleanses while she was there, and also when she returned to the US. She is very dedicated to eating healthy and detoxifying on a regular basis, since she is still quite the world traveler and loves nature. In fact, that is my daughter and I swimming in a river in Cambodia in 2014, bathing an elephant in the photo above. She has a love of nature and adventure like I do and we share that love.Being someone who loves being out in nature, I realize that I have been doing natural parasite protection protocols my whole life and I didn’t even realize it. (The iodine supplementation that I have been doing for around 25 years is one of them.) When our immune system is strong and we are eating nutrient-rich fresh fruits and vegetables, then our body can be strong enough to defend itself against these types of organisms. But when we are ingesting processed, low nutrient-dense foods, microwaved or irradiated foods, or chemicals and toxins, and municipal tap water, these can contribute to a weakened immune system, and our defenses that keep us well begin to get broken down.Adding some of the healthy, antioxidant-rich foods, with a high pH, is a way one can boost the body’s immune system, detoxify the body from acids and toxins, and boost overall health.Adding healthy, organic spices, herbs, mushrooms, barks, minerals, and essential oils and other natural remedies is such an easy way to prevent parasites from proliferating or thriving in the body.I believe at this point in time that it is even more important to be aware of the fact that parasites can be a real problem in health challenges today. Therefore, cleansing our body of parasitical infections is paramount. Whether you believe you might have parasites or not, I believe that what we ingest directly impacts our health. Because of this, I strongly recommend that avoid refined foods, sugar, artificial additives and sweeteners, junk food, microwaved foods and liquids, municipal tap water, irradiated foods and liquids, and all GMO food is a great way to start. I simply avoid buying those foods and I find other ways to eat delicious foods that are organic healthy, fresh, and in their most natural form. One thing that I have believed in for a very long time is that “food is our medicine” and what we ingest becomes our cells, tissue, and blood, and thus directly impacts our health. My closing thought is that I want to make you more aware of the prevalence of parasites in our bodies today. Please research the various cleanses and choose the one that best suits you.Adding more healthy foods and liquids to your diet could improve your immune system, raise your pH, naturally prevent parasites, and contribute to optimum health.Education is power.Stay enlightened and I encourage you to live your life to the fullest!

Very Berry Smoothie Recipe – Gluten-free & Plant-based

This is a refreshing drink for any time of day!
Smoothies are great for breakfast, a snack, a meal on-the-go, or for anyone with a health challenge. They are delicious, refreshing, and packed with nutrition. You can also put this mixture into popsicle molds and make healthy popsicles!June is berry harvest time, so try to use fresh, locally-grown, organic berries if you can.

Berries are a great antioxidant food. Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, black- berries, mulberries, huckleberries, and cranberries are all rich in antioxidants. The antioxidants are in the color! That means, the color pigments of the food  are the antioxidant. Remember this when food shopping to look for the richest,
deepest, organic colors.

Do not wash berries until you are readyto use them, as they are fragile in nature, andthat will break them down and make themspoil quicker.

Blueberries. Blueberries are rich with Vitamin C, Vitamin B complex, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, copper, selenium, zinc, and iron.

Raspberries.  Raspberries are ri ch in niacin, iron, potassium, Vitamin A, and Vitamin C. Store them in the refrigerator.

Strawberries. Strawberries are rich in Vitamin C,potassium, and iron. If strawberries are eatenbefore meals, they can aid in the digestive pro-cess. Buy organic strawberries; conventionalstrawberries are heavily sprayed with
chemicals.

If you only have frozen berries, it’s good to know that freezing them helps preserve the Vitamin C! Berries are among the healthiest antioxidant-rich foods you can eat.
One study showed that blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries have the highest antioxidant activity of commonly consumed fruits, next to pomegranates.
In this recipe, I added a little bee pollen.
Each granule of bee pollen is a composition that varies depending on the sources it was collected.
This makes each batch a unique blend.
I would suggest trying to get this from a responsible bee keeper, preferably in your area.
Given this fact, typically, bee pollen consists of around 20 to 40% protein, including all essential amino acids;
some essential fatty acids, Vitamins A, B complex, C, D, E, and K; some minerals, including calcium, magnesium,
potassium, iron, zinc, selenium, phosphorus; and some enzymes, coenzymes, flavonoids, carotenoids, and other bioactive compounds.
I highly recommend ALWAYS using organic food.Ingredients:2 1/2 c. unsweetened coconut milk

1 banana – (You can add the skin, if you have cleaned it. Cut off the hard ends, and only use the soft part.
This adds a good amount of extra nutrition and fiber.)

1 1/2 c. fresh berries of any type (raspberries, blueberries, blackberries)

1/4 cup of protein powder (hemp seeds are a good choice) 1 tsp. bee pollen 1/2 cup raw, organic, yogurt (Cocoyo is a good brand of coconut yogurt.)
1 T. organic cold-pressed hemp or flax seed oil (omega 3 fatty acids)1 T. extra-virgin, cold-pressed, organic coconut oilPinch of mineral rich salt (Redmond’s Real Salt is a good brand)Directions:1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend well.2. Drink immediately, because nutrients begin to dissipate as soon as they touch oxygen.Variations:Use cherries or other fruits instead of berries. For an extra nutrient boost, you can add a 1/4 tsp or a tablet of Shilajit is a mineral-rich resin formed over centuries in mountain rock.
When purified correctly, it delivers fulvic acid and 84+ trace minerals.
What is fulvic acid?Fulvic acid is the end product of decomposition oforganic matter, which is nutrient dense. It issomething like compost, but the smallestconcentrated particle of compost. It’s a micronanomolecule, which means it is incredibly smalland able to cross all blood-brain barriers and carrynutrients to the cells. Its antioxidant capacity is enormous.
One molecule of fulvic acid has 14 tetratrillionelectrons that it can donate to help eliminate freeradicals. It is an antioxidant agent that can act asan electrolyte in the cell. It’s been used by Dr. Daniel Nuzum, D.O.,N.M.D. (Toxicologist, professor, scientist andresearcher) for cancer therapy. He says that fulvicacid has the “electrolyte capacity to raise theelectrical capacity in the cells and it destroyscancer cells that way.”146 If it can do this, then it isan important nutrient we should all take foroptimum health.Dr. Nuzum said he has been researching fulvicacid since 1996 and has only had good results. Hewent on to say that he has his whole family(including his children) take it daily. (source below)It comes in a liquid with a dropper. You take itin small doses. It doesn’t taste very good, so I addit to my smoothies in the morning so I don’t tasteit. You can buy shiliajit tablets from Dr. Tom Cowan’s store. https://drtomcowan.com/xacediek Dr. Cowan’s shiliajit tablets are 100% Raw Shilajit from the Altai Mountains in Central Asia. No binders, fillers or preservatives.
per. preservatives.

Start Your Own Organic Garden!

Biodynamic farming is a spiritual-ethical-ecological approach to agriculture
initially developed by Austrian scholar Rudolf Steiner,1 Ph.D., (1861-1925).It’s an approach that can provide far superior harvests
compared to conventional chemical-based agriculture,
while simultaneously healing the Earth.July 1, 2017 | Source: Mercola.com | by Dr. Joseph MercolaMost of us have been trying to eat more healthy, organic, non-GMO foods, so that our health will be at its best and our immune system will be strong. With these unpredictable times, we would like to be more in control of when and how we are able to obtain the best quality food we possibly can at the best price.Fresh organically grown food provides more nutrients and more importantly, it does not contain the toxic pesticides and herbicides (that are used for growing and drying crops) that we simply cannot wash off, and that are extremely detrimental to our health.I feel it’s more important today, to grow our own quality food, because the amount of GMO food, grown with seeds that have toxins built right into them is growing at an alarming rate. I learned last year that over 1000 patents had been taken out on building poisonous snake venom into vegetable and fruit seeds. With no long-term studies, it’s hard to predict the result of ingestingfood with toxic poison of this type built right into the seeds. (1)I started growing my own food as a child with my family, and I’ve continued to do so all my life. I really encourage everyone to do this, because it not only allows you to be in control of the quality of your food, but it makes it easier and less expensive to obtain healthy, fresh food that has ripened naturally on the vine or tree. Additionally, it also decreases the amount of pesticides you and your family consume, and using less pesticides helps not only our health, but also protects the environment in which we all live.Food picked fresh in its vine-ripened or tree-ripened state also contains healthy solvestrols. Solvestrols have natural cancer and disease-fighting components in them that are not present in foods picked green before they are ripe.It is not that hard to start growing your own food at home, whether it’s sprouts in a small container in the kitchen, or leafy greens in a pot on the balcony or porch, or vegetables in a larger garden out in your yard.I suggest starting by deciding what you wish to grow. What do you like to eat? It is always a good time to start growing organic healthy food, even with just a single plant or two. Don’t worry if things aren’t exactly right. It can be fun and you will learn along the way.Organic gardening means you don’t use synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. There are many safe and less toxic ways to prevent bugs, slugs, and snails, or to handle weeds. I will list some resources at the end of this article.Organically grown fruits, vegetables and mushrooms deliver much higher amounts of the essential vitamins, micronutrients, and probiotics than those grown in toxic herbicide-doused soils. You want to start with rich organic soil, compost, high-quality water, and a good amount of sunshine. You might consider testing your soil for heavy metals or an imbalance, but that isn’t essential. (If you wish to do the testing, you can buy soil test kits through some gardening supply stores, which I will list below.)You can begin with a small garden (and the closest thing to instant gratification), by starting a window box containing a basic organic soil mix. You can find window boxes at most garden centers or order on-line. Horse water troughs (https://horseyhooves.com/horse-water-troughs/) also make excellent and long-lasting raised gardens or you might want to try gardening “grow bags.”I bought some of these, and they work fantastic for me out in the country. I planted mint in one of them. I love mint. I learned the hard way, that mint must grow in a contained pot or it will take over a whole garden.I prefer small, reputable garden centers that are dedicated to carrying only approved organic soil amendments, as well as organic disease and pest management materials.Place your window box, pots of soil, or garden in a sunny location. Next plant your seeds as directed on the seed package. I have found that herbs and salad greens are quick and easy to grow and full of flavor and vitality. You can purchase seeds in bulk or in small packets. Simply make sure they are “Organic” and “Non-GMO.” I like to buy a couple of different varieties of my favorite vegetables or fruits.I like to do this because frequently one will thrive more than the other, and it’s good to know which type can flourish in my soil and location. I also like to experiment with different flavors of the plants. This always makes it fun and you can make this a game with your children. The quickest plants to reach harvestability belong to the cruciferous vegetable family or radish family. Radish varieties are vast. Be sure to find a good source for bulk, non-treated, non-GMO seeds. These are some of my favorite sprouts to grow for sprinkling on sandwiches, salads, etc.Microgreens are a great choice of plants to grow, because they have 40% more nutrients in them than the full-grown plant, so they are an easy way to get an amazing amount of intense nutrition in the diet.Oregano, malibar spinach, and mint are good plants to grow in a container, because if you plant any of them in a garden, they can be very hard to manage and they can take over.My children and I loved to grow our favorite herbs in little pots in the kitchen window, as they were so easy to cut and use in our recipes. One of the first things my son did when he got his apartment at law school, was to purchase some small pots of his favorite herbs for his kitchen window.Fresh herbs and plants in a recipe can really make the flavor of a recipe pop. Using fresh herbs, leafy greens, sprouts, vegetables, mushrooms and fruits is one of the best ways to enhance the flavor of a dish.I believe in getting children involved. They love gardening. The statistics show that children who garden have higher science and math scores. I have also found that they are much more likely to try eating the foods they have grown personally, than ones bought at a store.I also recommend growing a few plants that attract pollinators and butterflies, like marigolds, zinnias and crocuses. You can grow herbs like lavender, sage, parsley and dill. Butterflies love dill for butterfly caterpillars to eat as food. I have some of the most beautiful Monarch butterfly caterpillars in my garden when I plant dill amongst my flowers. I love to watch them, so I always plant extra. It’s important to educate my gardening helpers.I show them the caterpillars and butterfly cocoons to them, so they avoid killing them by thinking they are pests. You may want to put out a little sign, saying “Butterfly Garden, please protect the caterpillars and cocoons”.The pollinators are struggling. They add such beauty to our environment, as well as helping to pollinate our food. I enjoy my garden so much more when I plant these flowers and butterfly-friendly foods in my garden. They make it more fun and interesting. I also feel like I am helping the environment and helping with their survival by doing this.I made a short video on organic gardening.

Here is a list of my favorite gardening supply websites:1. Organic Pest and Gardening Supply, Austin “Arbico Organics”2. “Sustainable Seeds” has organic & non-GMO seeds3. “My Patriot Supply” has organic seeds4. “Gardener’s Supply” is another great resource for a variety of things for gardening. If you don’t want to grow everything yourself, and you would like to order some freshly grown sprouts or microgreens, I buy mine from the Indoor Organic Gardens Of Poughkeepsie. They can even overnight them to you, so they are incredibly fresh. The broccoli powder doesn’t have much taste, so you can add this powder to all your foods before serving. Don’t destroy the live broccoli sprout enzymes by getting them too hot, so add the broccoli powder after you have prepared the food, but before serving. You will get that raw, organic broccoli sprout powder nutrition. Here is their website link: www.iogopk.com If you put “Nancy” in the discount code box, you will get a discount on your order.Being able to grow your own food can be empowering and in these times, it can provide a multitude of benefits you may not even imagine. Growing your own organic food can be an extremely enriching experience, as well as good for your health. In closing, it’s important to highlight that being out in nature, gardening, and connecting with the earth’s energy, which is called grounding, can naturally boost our mental well-being.The University of California did a study on grounding, and published their research. It was called “The Effect of Grounding the Human Body on Mood”. The researchers found that pleasant, uplifted, and positive moods significantly improved among the grounded participants. The ungrounded participants did not have the same results.
https://www.academia.edu/84848080/The_Effect_of_Grounding_the_Human_Body_on_MOOD1
It was concluded that simply one hour of contact with the Earth improved mood more than just relaxing ungrounded. This is because direct contact with the Earth allows us to absorb negative electrons, which help to neutralize free radicals and reduce oxidative stress, promoting a sense of calm and well-being. https://www.groundology.co.uk/?a=whozSo, let’s all go outside, get grounded, plant some delicious healthy food, restore our health, and enhance our lives. Spring is the perfect time to get started!Love to you all, Nancy

Put A Spring In Your Step With Spring Cleaning

It’s spring, and time for a fresh start after the long, cold winter.
I just emptied out a storage unit and I am sorting, filing, tossing out, donating, organizing, and cleaning it all up.

If you are like me, we’ve had the house all closed up, and now it’s time to air it out, let in some clean, fresh air, and brighten up our home and environment.

A few simple things to start with are:
1. Open up the windows and doors and let the fresh air into your house. Replace the filters of your air conditioning system.
2. Wash your windows. It can be an amazing way to make your home or office look clean and refreshing.
3. Bring in a beautiful plant to lift your spirits and help clean toxins out of the air.
4. Clean out your refrigerator and pantry.
5. De-clutter closets, rooms, drawers, etc. Start to redistribute or throw out things that you haven’t used in a year or more, or that are old, broken or don’t make you feel happy.

One thing to be aware of as you are doing your cleaning, is that most of our cleaning care products today are a mixture of synthetic chemicals, including known allergens. These products are based on age-old recipes, that used to include natural ingredients.

But over the years, many of our cleaning products have changed, and many of them now contain toxic, carcinogenic ingredients. These can cause health problems when exposed to them on a regular basis. The federal Food, Drug and Cosmetics Act, which governs the safety of cleaning and personal care products, does not require manufacturers to substantiate the safety of their products before selling them.

For example, some US soaps, detergents, shampoos and conditioners will often contain two chemical preservatives — methylisothiazolinone and methylchloroisothiazolinone. These chemicals have been banned in the European Union for use in personal care products, on the grounds that they are sensitizing allergens. The U.S. has no restrictions, even though your skin is repeatedly exposed to these substances when used.

Product labels can list “fragrance” as an ingredient. “Fragrance” is a generic term, which allows a number of carcinogenic chemicals to be added to a product in order to make it smell good, without having to be listed.

These chemical mixtures often contain toxic individual ingredients that have been linked to cancer, endocrine disruption and serious allergic reactions. By using the term “fragrance” on the label, companies can avoid telling consumers the truth about what is actually in the product.
If one company sells its products in Europe and in the US, it can make a particular product with two different recipes and two separate labels, but they will look virtually identical.

In Europe, where the regulation of ingredients in products is much stricter, it’s container will have to state that it contains seven known allergens in its “fragrance.” In the US, the list of known toxins is not required. As is the case with all (personal and household) products, companies can use almost any mixture of chemicals they choose.

The US federal law regulating the personal care and household products industry has one of the weakest regulatory programs in the world, and it remains almost unchanged since 1938!

The quality of the ingredients in your household cleaning products is extremely important. Buy environmentally safe, non-toxic home cleaners. If you would like to see a list of highly rated green products that are carefully rated by the EWG (a non-profit group that does independent analyses of products for their safety, non-toxicity, and effectiveness).

Here is another thing to be aware of. Since our pets and children are much lower to the ground, their faces and noses can pick up toxic chemicals much easier. This can cause many health problems, including nerve damage and allergies, and more, since these toxins go directly into the bloodstream through the skin, without being filtered.

Household cleaners and body care items, such as soaps, detergents, household cleaners, toothpastes, shampoo, and conditioners should ideally be non-toxic and non-carcinogenic, in order to protect you, your family, pets, friends and the environment.

Have you ever read the ingredients and warnings on your bottle of cleaner?

The other day, I was at a friend’s home and she had just mopped her floor.
I got an immediate headache and started feeling sick. I asked her if I could look on the bottle of the cleaner she had used.
The label on the bottle had a warning that stated if you breathe in the fumes of this product, to call the poison control immediately.
I told her that many of these cleaners are highly toxic and can cause more harm than good.
She wanted to kill germs, so she thought she was doing the right thing.
Her grandchild crawling on the floor and her little 16 year old dog, whose face is always very close to the floor, would be much better off if she used non-toxic cleaners.

Non-toxic cleaning can give you a wonderful feeling, knowing that your family’s and pet’s health is protected, and that your home is a place for
everyone’s bodies to rest and regenerate in a clean, healthy environment. You also might want to consider going back to making your own cleaning products, using completely safe, non-toxic ingredients. They are extremely easy to make, and very inexpensive. Invite your children to help you, like mixing recipes in the kitchen. (Make it a science project!)

Most of the ingredients are staples that you already have in your kitchen pantry.
With a few simple mixtures, you can easily transform your house into a non-toxic, healthy home.
Following are some of my favorite non-toxic household cleaner recipes.

Basic Cleaner for SurfacesHydrogen Peroxide (3%) and White Vinegar
In a study conducted at Virginia Tech University on household cleaners that kill germs (including salmonella), the most effective cleaner was a combination of 3% hydrogen peroxide (like you purchase at the pharmacy) in conjunction with white vinegar. The hydrogen peroxide and vinegar were put into separate spray bottles. One was sprayed on a contaminated surface, immediately followed by the other. Used in this way, the sprays were more effective at killing germs than any store bought product. It didn’t matter which one was sprayed first, the vinegar or the peroxide.
DO NOT be tempted to combine the hydrogen peroxide and the vinegar in one bottle, because it results in peracetic acid, which is potentially harmful. Use the 3% hydrogen peroxide from the pharmacy instead of a food grade hydrogen peroxide, which is much stronger and needs to be used with extreme caution.Window Cleaner
Combine 2 cups of water, 1⁄4 cup of rubbing alcohol (isopropyl), 1⁄4 cup white vinegar, 2 tsp. corn starch and a 1⁄4 cup lemon juice in a spray bottle.
Shake well before using.  Spray this mixture on glass or windows, and wipe with a micro-fiber cloth.

Scrub for Counters, Sinks, and Stoves
Combine 2 cups baking soda, 1⁄2 cup Castile soap, 4 teaspoons vegetable glycerin, and a few drops essential oil (lavender, peppermint, or tea tree). Store in a sealed jar.

Drain Opener
Pour 1⁄2 cup baking soda into the drain, and then pour in 1⁄2 cup white vinegar.
Let stand 30 minutes. Flush with boiling water.

Furniture Polish
Combine 1⁄4 cup olive oil with 1⁄2 cup white vinegar. Add 2 teaspoons lemon juice.
Apply to furniture, and then wipe.

I also buy and use Tung Oil, which is an all natural oil.

Toilet Bowl Cleaner
Sprinkle the bowl of the toilet with baking soda and add in a little white vinegar.
Wait 30 minutes. Then scrub. You can also add 1⁄4 cup borax.

Purchased Cleaners
I buy Thieves Household Cleaner, and other Thieves cleaners made by Young Living Oils. It is my favorite manufactured cleaner to use on the floor and walls. It is safe for septic systems, has no harsh chemical smell, and is effective for deep cleaning.I also like non-toxic cleaner brands Myers, Seventh Generation, and Planet. I buy these non-toxic cleaners for dishwashers, laundry, dishes, and more.Creating that healthy home and office environment that supports you and your family’s health and well-being can be extremely rewarding.
Don’t put it off another day. Put on some uplifting music and start it today!

The Importance Of Great Dental Care

To most people our dental health seems like a simple ordinary thing, but in reality it’s extremely critical and it plays a vital part in our overall health.Every day, the average person exposes themselves to more than 100 chemicals from soaps, cosmetics, and other personal care products, like toothpaste or mouthwash. Many of these ingredients (chemicals) have been clinically researched and shown to cause serious health problems, including cancers. In fact over 80,000+ chemicals used in body care products have never been properly tested for safety by federal regulatory agencies.According to Dr. Thomas Levy – lawyer and cardiologist, many chronic health conditions are a result of poor dental health and toxic teeth. So, here is some basic information to get you started in the right direction: Toothpaste If you read the boxes of some name-brand toothpastes and mouthwashes, you may see a warning to immediately call poison control if you swallow them. The warnings are usually only on the box and not on the tube or bottle itself. We shouldn’t be putting any kind of poison in our mouths at all because the mouth is highly absorbent.I buy brands that are free of poison and not harmful to my body.A toothpaste/toothpowder that I just learned about is much better than any of the others. It is called “Dirty Mouth,” and it was developed by a nurse who has really figured out a lot about dental health. She truly understands teeth, toxicity, how the tooth enamel works, and how it affects the gums. One of the ingredients in the toothpaste that she has created is clay. Clay is the perfect ingredient to put in the mouth for cleaning teeth, because it has the minerals the teeth needs, and it also pulls toxins out. It cuts down on plaque, helps reduce bad bacteria in the mouth, and helps regrow the good bacteria that support the immune system.Toxins are positively charged ions, (an ion is a charged atom), which are also called free-radicals. Clays are excellent at binding toxins, because they are negatively charged ions and they attract and bind well with these positively charged toxins. Then the clay (binding the toxins) can be effectively eliminated though the digestive process. What most people don’t realize is that the oral biome (oral immune system) is the first place toxins can enter the body. If the oral biome (immune system) is not strong enough, then those toxins can enter into the gut and that immune system’s biome is quite different. Some toxins will thrive in that gut environment, like H. Pylori or E. Coli. The stomach or intestinal bacteria are not able to kill particular toxins, like those bacteria that should ideally be eliminated by the good bacteria in the mouth. Most mouthwashes or toothpastes actually destroy those beneficial bacteria that would make up the oral biome (immune system) in the mouth. If you look on some of the toothpaste or mouthwash packages, it might say, “kills bacteria.” But you don’t want to kill all of your bacteria. The good bacteria is your immune system. The good bacteria prevents the overgrowth of bad bacteria and prevents an acidic environment. This lack of beneficial bacteria and an acidic environment is what destroys the gums, which support the teeth.
Clay alkalizes the mouth’s environment, helps rebuild the good bacteria, and remineralizes the teeth. The clay can also help bind with the toxins, like heavy metals or glyphosate (an antibiotic herbicide) that we get from water and conventionally grown foods, etc. The clay can help detoxify the tissues as you are brushing your teeth. This clay can help you rebuild the beneficial bacteria that can kill J. pylori, E. Coli, or Streptococcus mutans, which are the leading bacteria that cause cavities and gingivitis. Your teeth are like bone. They are porous and a living part of your body.People with digestive problems may actually find that their health improves if they boost their oral biome (good bacteria in their mouth), and remineralize their teeth and gums, while also removing toxins. The digestive process actually starts in the mouth. Some ingredients to avoid –1. Fluoride Many people are still under the illusion that fluoride is good for teeth, but fluoride is a neurotoxin and is an accumulative poison. Fluoride is particularly harmful to young males having growth spurts, which manifests itself as osteosarcoma (rare bone cancer) in their late teens or early 20’s.According to a Harvard report, “Fluoride in Water: Children Exposed to Neurotoxin – Mothers Be Warned!” reveals some extreme health challenges that occur when fluoride is present in the water.Dr. Elise Bassin found a strong, statistically-significant relationship between “fluoride exposure during the 6th through 8th years of life (the “mid-childhood growth spurt”) and the later development of osteosarcoma among young males.”There have been NO long-term studies that found that fluoride in the water was beneficial, and in fact, studies show that fluoride causes many other detrimental health problems. Some of the earliest opponents to fluoridation were biochemists. Dr. James Sumner, a Nobel Laureate biochemist at Cornell University says: “Everybody knows fluorine and fluorides are very poisonous substances… We use them in enzyme chemistry to poison enzymes, those vital agents in the body. That is the reason things are poisoned; because the enzymes are poisoned and that is why animals and people die.”Health Effects of fluoride –Fluoride is a highly toxic substance that can cause a range of adverse health effects. Certain members of the public are at particularly high risk of harm.We need to have pure water to drink, but fluoride is not added to the water to purify the water. It is added with the idea that it helps prevent tooth decay, but the studies done on tooth decay were done with calcium fluoride. The fluoride added to our drinking water is different. They add sodium fluoride and fluorosilicic acid, that can be contaminated with lead and arsenic, and are actually toxic waste from aluminum and fertilizer factories. So, this is NOT going to help prevent dental decay.“Fluoride is a toxic industrial waste classified as a Schedule Seven – S7 Poison. It is a banned biocide in Europe, utilized in many prescription drugs as well as being the main ingredient in rat and cockroach poison.Fluoride accumulates in bone and soft tissue. The pineal is a light receptive endocrine gland responsible for the production of serotonin. Serotonin, also known as 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HTP), neurotransmitter also acts as a hormone, which is a mood enhancer). If this gland is harmed with this chemical, fluoride, it can cause depression and anxiety. Serotonin also supports the creation of melatonin a hormone that is essential for sleep (circadian rhythms), a lack of melatonin can cause insomnia. The National Research Council stated, “Fluoride is likely to cause decreased melatonin production and to have other effects on normal pineal function, which in turn could contribute to a variety of effects in humans” (NRC, 2006, p. 256).Many cities spend a great deal of money (as much as $1,000,000.00 or more) on purchasing the toxic waste from the fertilizer plants to put into the water supply. It is legally labeled “toxic waste” until the city purchases it, and then it is legally called “a product,” simply because it has been “purchased.”Summary on fluoride:
This is a product that has been proven:
to NOT be the correct type of fluoride,
to NOT work in an ingested form,
to be an unapproved drug that cannot be regulated in dosage,
to cause osteosarcoma in males, well known alterations in teeth and bone structure and calcification of tendons and ligaments.
‘Moderate’ doses of fluoride cause spinal deformities and increased hip fracture tendency and kidney and gall stones. Higher levels cause death and are responsible for its major industrial use as a rodenticide.Solubility calculations indicate that fluoride doses required to decrease calcium below physiological blood levels are comparable to those present in poisoned victims’ tissues and to those causing decreased beat rates in isolated heart cells in culture. Acute lethal poisoning and many of the chronic ‘low’ level effects of fluoride are mediated by calcium binding by the fluoride ion.2. Glycerin Glycerin is another ingredient commonly found in toothpastes. It coats the mineral deficient teeth with a layer that prevents the tooth from being able to remineralize. As an example, when you cover something with plastic wrap, nothing gets through it. Glycerin acts in the same way.The teeth need these minerals. The clay can remove the glycerin from the tooth and allow the tooth to remineralize. The Dirty Mouth products are Certified Organic and free of fluoride and glycerin. You can purchase the dental care products from Primal Life Organic. It is now my toothpaste of choice. I think it is a brilliant combination of ingredients. It is used a little differently. You scoop it from the container with your toothbrush or a small utensil. Then you brush for two minutes, swishing it around in your mouth. Spit. Rinse if desired. For best results, brush twice a day. The clays and essential oils resist bacterial growth in your mouth, and cleans your teeth. The ingredients in these tooth brushing clay powders vary with the different flavors. These tooth powders can include the following ingredients:Black Spearmint Flavor: Colloidal Silver, Bentonite, Kaolin, Sodium Bicarbonate, Activated Charcoal, Montmorillonite, Mentha Spicata (Spearmint) OilPeppermint Flavor: Colloidal Silver, Bentonite, Kaolin, Sodium Bicarbonate, Montmorillonite, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) OilBubblegum Flavor: Colloidal Silver, Bentonite, Kaolin, Sodium Bicarbonate, Montmorillonite, Luo Han Guo (Monk Fruit), Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Oil*, Eucalyptus Radiata (Eucalyptus) Oil*, and Cananga Odorata (Ylang Ylang) Oil.I will expand on a few of those tooth powder ingredients listed above, because I feel this is important.• Colloidal Silver
A study published in 2018 showed that silver is a powerful anti-bacterial and can be used as a rinse to help reduce bacteria in the mouth that contributes to gum disease.• Bentonite Clay is nontoxic and rich in vital minerals that are very beneficial for our teeth and gums – like calcium and potassium. It is a cleansing clay that gently scrubs and beautifully polishes the teeth. It works as an astringent by helping to remove tartar and clean the gums.• White Kaolin Clay is high in calcium, silica, zinc, and magnesium. It helps to whiten and polish the teeth.• Baking Soda is alkaline with a pH of 8.1, and it will neutralize the acids in the mouth. Baking soda gently cleanses and polishes the teeth, removes odors and can help freshen the breath.• French Green Clay (also known as Illite Clay or Sea Clay) is very absorbent and helps cleanse the tissues from the harmful oils, toxins, and impurities found on the surface of the teeth. Mined from bedrock quarries in France, it is sun-dried, completely natural, unscented, and fragrance-free.zFrench Green Clay is a bio-mineral and contains decomposed plant matter as well as many trace minerals, including silica, magnesium, calcium, iron, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, copper, zinc, selenium, cobalt, manganese, phosphorous, silicon, micro-algae, kelp, and phytonutrients.• Organic Essential Oils are used to freshen the mouth and make you forget that you are brushing your teeth with “natural earth ingredients.”In addition to using a healthy toothpaste, I advise you not to share your toothpaste container with other toothbrushes. This is a personal use container.Get a new toothbrush after any illness, or at least every two months. This will prevent the toothbrush from becoming too built up with contaminants.Floss Floss at least once a day to keep your gums healthy and to remove bacteria from between the teeth.Tongue Scraper Use a tongue scraper to keep the tongue clean and fresh. Tongue scrapers are available from Primal Life Organic. They have really nice dental packages. They are fairly inexpensive. I think they are something everyone should use.To use it, you put the tongue scraper at the back of your tongue and gently bring it forward along your tongue, and then repeat. If you have a tongue that is coated with debris, bacteria and dead cells, then a tongue scraping may be helpful. It makes your mouth feel so much cleaner and fresher.Whiten Teeth “Dirty Mouth” also has a tooth whitener that I think is the best one for oral health, if you want whiter teeth. If you really want to have the cleanest mouth and whitened teeth, then try my “oil pulling” detoxification technique first thing in the morning before you brush your teeth with the clays.Oil pulling is an Ayurvedic Remedy used to enhance oral health and well-being. Oil pulling detoxifies the body, removes unsightly stains on teeth, and prevents illness and disease. (It’s described in detail in Chapter 11, in my book “Diabetes And Your Diet.”) Mouthwash Be careful about which mouthwash you use. Like I said before, you don’t want to kill the beneficial bacteria in your mouth, so be careful and avoid a mouthwash that “kills bacteria.” It may not be selective and may kill the beneficial oral biome bacteria that keeps the harmful bacteria in control.Alcohol is used in many mouthwashes. Mouthwashes with a content of 25 percent or higher have been implicated in mouth, tongue, and throat cancers.Another ingredient to watch out for in mouthwash is potassium bromate. It is used in sports drinks, citrus flavored drinks, breads, crackers, baked goods, and mouthwashes. Why should we look out for potassium bromate? Our thyroid is our master gland. It is central to all of our body’s major functions. It influences our metabolism, digestion, energy, body temperature, skin, hair, sleep, mental acuity, nervous system, sexual organs, and hormonal system. In fact, it would be very difficult to find a system that is not influenced by the thyroid. The main nutrient that supports our thyroid is iodine. What does this mean if we ingest potassium bromate? We have a certain amount of space for the iodine in our thyroid. When we ingest potassium bromate, it acts like iodine. It will take up the space for iodine and actually prevent your body from absorbing the iodine it needs. This contributes to iodine deficiency and cancer.Brazil, China, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the European Union have all prohibited the use of this chemical compound. Check the ingredient lists carefully, and if it’s added under a certain percentage, the FDA doesn’t require them to list it on the label. This is something to be aware of in many products.
If concerned, you may want to call the company and ask. Mercury Mercury poisoning is a silent epidemic in the world today.
Mercury is a neurotoxin and it’s found in amalgam fillings,
vaccines, seafood, personal care products, light bulbs,
batteries, electronics, and water.
Studies show that mercury, even in small amounts, can damage the central nervous system causing irritability, fatigue, mood swings, behavioral problems, tremors, headaches, hearing loss, dysarthria, incoordination, hallucinations, loss of peripheral vision, “pins and needles” feelings, usually in the hands, feet, and around the mouth, lack of coordination of movements,
ringing in your ears, insomnia, and even death.”Get those mercury-containing amalgam fillings removed safely and quickly. The IAOMT is a Scientific, Biological Dental Organization. It is a great resource to use in finding a safe dentist who is skilled at removing toxic mercury containing fillings. IAOMT has a SMART protocol, which stands for Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique. The IAOMT has a number of resources for both dentists and patients that you might find of interest.I send you wishes for perfect dental health, and in turn, a healthier body all around.

My Comforting Classic: Lentil Soup Recipe

More than a recipe, this soup is a cherished tradition in my home during colder months. It’s rich, satisfying, and a testament to the joy of simple, home-cooked meals. This hearty, nourishing soup is my go-to for winter meals. Its humble ingredients meld together to create a symphony of nutritious hearty flavor. It’s a bowl full of comfort.

Lentils are one of the main ingredients. They are delicious and nutrient-dense, offering plant-based protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals.

I suggest always buying the “organic” lentils, because the non-organic varieties are usually saturated with the Roundup Ready herbicide to expedite harvest. This toxic residue penetrates the plant and cannot be removed by washing or cooking. What we consume becomes our cells, tissues, and blood, underscoring the importance of quality. I serve it with some crusty, whole, sprouted-grain bread.

Ingredients

2 T. extra virgin, pure coconut oil
2 onions, chopped
3 carrots, chopped
3⁄4 tsp. marjoram
3⁄4 tsp. thyme
1 tsp. unrefined, mineral-rich salt (or to taste)
1⁄4 tsp. black pepper
1⁄2 tsp. ground caraway seeds
3 c. tomatoes (crushed or diced)
7 c. non-chlorinated water
1 c. sprouted lentils, rinsed
1/3 c. fresh parsley or 2 T. dried parsley
1⁄2 c. or more cheddar cheese, grated
(from cows or goats that are grass-fed and humanely raised)

Directions

1. Sauté́ the oil, onions, carrots, marjoram, thyme, ground caraway seeds, salt, and pepper about 4–5 minutes in a large soup pot.
2. Add tomatoes and stir for a couple of minutes.
3. Add water and sprouted lentils.
4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer and cook 45 minutes, or
until lentils are soft.
5. Remove from heat and add parsley.
6. Sprinkle with cheese, if using.
7. Serve warm.

Note: You can purchase sprouted lentils or you can soak the lentils overnight in non- chlorinated water, then drain them before cooking.

Remember, the main ingredient is always love!

Warm Cozy Holiday Drink Recipes & Music Suggestions

One of my favorite things to do at Christmas-time
is to make a warm cozy drink. Two of my favorite winter holiday drinks are
Plant-Based Eggnog
and
Cinnamon Chai Tea Latte. Here are the recipes!Plant-Based Eggnog This is an easy recipe to make and it is plant-based and
gluten-free. I try to always use all organic ingredients!Ingredients: 1½ c. unsweetened vanilla coconut or hemp milk1 organic bananaPinch of nutmeg1/2 tsp. vanilla extract1 tsp. raw date sugar or maple syrup or raw honeyDirections: 1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until creamy.2. Sprinkle a tiny bit of nutmeg on the top of the filled cups
for a nice presentation.Note: This recipe is easy to double.Serves one to two.Cinnamon Chai Tea LatteThis is a holiday drink made with cinnamon, which boosts your immune system, aids in digestion and circulation, and helps regulate blood sugar. I use Ceylon cinnamon, because I believe it is the healthiest. See note below.

gluten-free/vegetarian

Ingredients:2 cups unsweetened vanilla coconut or hemp milk (milk of choice)1 tsp. Blue Lotus Rooibos Chai (Blue Lotus Chai – made with organic spices. It’s an instant tea that doesn’t require steeping and it’s gluten-free!)2 tsp. date sugar or honey (to taste)A few dashes of organic Ceylon Cinnamon½ tsp. vanilla extractDirections:1. Put the tea and the sweetener of choice in your cup.2. Warm your coconut or hemp milk on the stove making it warm to touch, but not too hot.3. When it’s just warm, add about 1/2 a cup of the milk to your cup. (If you have a frother, use a frother to mix it well or whisk it to blend.)4. Add the remainder of your milk and sprinkle a touch of cinnamon on top!5. Serve warm.

Note:

Cinnamon is a spice, and it’s obtained from the inner bark of a few tree species. Research shows that cinnamon can help lower blood sugar, and triglyceride levels in people with Type 2 diabetes. Cinnamon contains antioxidants that create healthier arteries and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Cinnamon can also benefit us with increased alertness and energized senses. Even a teaspoon a day helps tame blood sugar levels.Ceylon cinnamon is the best cinnamon to use. Cassia, Saigon, and Chinese cinnamon contain five percent coumarin, which is problematic for the liver. Ceylon cinnamon has only .0004 percent coumarin.
