Not too long ago, Stephen King’s THE DEAD ZONE came to the fore as Trump’s bid for president gained momentum as people felt the plot reflected Trump’s rise. To me, horror is like punk music, loud and in your face, but with something to say about the world in which we live, and I believe a lot of horror books from the ‘60s and ‘70s did exactly this. Reading about people overcoming terror and making it through to the other side can be comforting and provide hope for readers that they can do it too.(less)
