CHIPS, AutoPop Celebs, Logan5, Lowrider, Terminator & C10!

Good morning, you ROWDY ROH ROH’S and welcome to AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE!! As Fireball creates NEW AUTOPOP SKETCHES this week, let’s keep the tires rollin’ with his take on Ponch’s KAWASAKI from CHiPs!! Probably the most Iconic Bike in TV History!

DID YOU KNOW?? The iconic television show CHiPs (1977-1983) featured Kawasaki KZ900 and KZ1000 Police motorcycles, reflecting the actual shift by the California Highway Patrol toward Japanese bikes in the 1970s. These, often called “KZP” models, were renowned for their reliability, speed (approx. 130 mph), and, in the show, were often modified to be quieter to not drown out dialogue. While Kawasaki Police Specials were the standard, many stunt bikes were used, and a total of about 40 were reportedly destroyed during the show’s run. Ouchy… In many scenes, especially close-ups or during stunts, stunt doubles rode the motorcycles because Erik Estrada (Ponch) was not allowed to perform the high-speed maneuvers himself.

And meanwhile, ON PLANET FIREBALL… GNRS is this weekend and Fireball will be there SATURDAY! Look for him and he may give you a Fireball Treat!

A Classic Snap from MALIBU with some Icons including “Leave it to Beaver’s” TONY DOW, Music Icon THOM PANUNZIO, The Ball, Nostalgia Highway’s WES NIELSEN and infamous Radio Sporstcaster RANDY KERDOON! (Photo: @carshowaholic), Fireball launches his LOGAN’S RUN MUGSHOT ART, a Whipsnap of a 1970 CAMARO from Fireball’s Coloring Book and some super-slick LOWRIDER IMPALA ART!

Fireball busts out badass LOGAN’S RUN SANDMAN Ground Car!!

Good morning you ENDOPLASMATIC EARWAXERS and welcome to AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE! Just a SKETCH today… but it’s the super cool SANDMAN GROUND CAR from the LOGAN’S RUN TV Show!! Check it out IN THE GARAGE to add to YOUR COLLECTION

DID YOU KNOW?? The iconic vehicles in the Logan’s Run TV series (1977-1978), including the Sandman Ground Car and Solar Car, were designed and built by Dean Jeffries Auto Styling. Only two Sandman cars were built for the series, which later appeared in CHiPs, Otherworld, and the Tom Petty music video “You Got Lucky.” Only two Sandman cars were built for the series. But after the series was cancelled, the “Ground Cars” appeared in various productions, also including a 1981 episode of Steambath. If you lived in LA, you saw the Ground Car and many other vehicles at Jeffries Shop off the Hollywood Freeway. And Fireball was there, too! WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER?? And what happened to the original Vehicles??

PONTIAC BANSHEE, Bionic Duo, Farrah, ChevHELL & New Sketches

Good morning, you WILD & WONDERFUL WEIRDOS and welcome to AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE!! Today, we head to the past to reveal the FUTURE with Fireball’s take on the stunning 1988 PONTIAC BANSHEE Concept Car originally designed by GM’s Tom Peters!

BUT DID YOU KNOW?? The original Pontiac Banshee concept, code-named XP-833, was developed by John DeLorean’s team starting in 1964, unveiled to GM executives in mid-1965, but ultimately shelved by GM leadership that same year, fearing it would compete with the Corvette. Subsequent Banshee concepts, including the Banshee III (1974) and Banshee IV (1988), followed, with the latter influencing later Pontiac designs like the Trans Am. Will PONTIAC be back?? Something tells us that BADASSERY is BREWING…

And meanwhile, ON PLANET FIREBALL… The BIONIC DUO needs to be MUGGED like THESE GUYS! If you think so… LEAVE A VOTE in the COMMENTS and Fireball may make it happen! FARRAH gets her MUSTANG COBRA MUGSHOTTED and Fireball’s STATION WAGON Coloring Book features a SONIC ASTRO BUICK!

PLUS, Kate’s PINTO is now WEARABLE with NEW TEES, Fireball hits the CROSSROADS CHURCH CAMARILLO CARS & COFFEE to see cool English Cars, SKETCH BADASSERY taps in, Fireball’s ChevHELL gets a MASTERPRINT! Today’s Episode of BEST OF SHOW???

A FERRARI F40… well, kind of… WATCH HERE!

Be EXCELLENT TO EACH OTHER today, people! We’re all on this little marble floating in space, so take it easy and don’t let the Illusion fool you. ALL IS GOOD and BADASSERY is the ONLY OUTCOME!

Yes, new cars are fair-game, too! But the NEXT SET of BADASSERY includes LOGAN’S RUN, RISKY BUSINESS, DUKES, F&F, BOND and more SPEED RACER ART! Fireball’s ON A ROLL, baby!

DID YOU KNOW?? Cadillac’s first cars, the Runabout and Tonneau, rolled out in late 1902, were simple two-seaters with 10 hp single-cylinder engines, priced around $850 and introduced at the 1903 New York Auto Show where they instantly generated huge orders due to their precision manufacturing. These initial models (later called Model A/B) were known for being exceptionally reliable and well-built, setting the stage for Cadillac’s “Standard of the World” reputation. For comparison… the CELESTIC starts at $350K!! Sheesh!

And meanwhile… ON PLANET FIREBALL… The Ball hits the Pete, snaps a STAGECOACH CAR, but who built it?? BATMAN FOREVER gets a MUGSHOT, Fireball SKETCHES aren’t limited to CARS, but inspiration for cars can come from EVERYWHERE!

BULLITT Swag is in the Garage now and you can slide some Badassery into YOUR GARAGE or MUSEUM! Check out the goods, here!

NEW 1967 MUGSHOT ART, Buckaroo, Give-Away, Buddy & MUSCLE!

Good morning, you BOLONY-FACED BRATWURSTS and welcome to AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE! Today, we enter back into our regular blasts with the launch of the 1967 TRANSFORMERS BUMBLEBEE MUGSHOT & MORE! PLUS, we’ll be giving away one FRESH MUG to a NEW SUBSCRIBER each month!! So, SUB HERE for your chance to join TEAM FIREBALL and the AUTOPOP REVOLUTION! Thousands of COOL ART CHOICES in the Garage!

DID YOU KNOW?? The 1967 Bumblebee Camaro, featured in Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014), is a heavily customized version of the first-year Camaro. While the 1967 model year is a classic, the “Bumblebee” version was modified specifically for the screen. Director Michael Bay was the actual owner of the specific 1967 Camaro used in the film. It was later sold at the 2016 Barrett-Jackson auction for nearly $170,000. Despite its classic body, the movie car was built for performance with a modern fuel-injected LS3 V8 engine and a 6-speed transmission. Only 220,906 Camaros were built in 1967, and the bumblebee nose stripe was originally part of the SS package introduced that year.

And meanwhile, ON PLANET FIREBALL… BUCKAROO BANZAI ART slides into the Garage for an up-front Parking Space! Do you remember the name of his TIME TRAVEL TRUCK with the License Plat “ROKIT88?”

1967 BUMBLEBEE CAMARO… How Fireball Sketched it!

GOOD MORNING, you Hillbilly Hammers and welcome to AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE! Today, Fireball takes you BEHIND THE SCENES on the 1967 BUMBLEBEE so you can see HOW IT WAS DONE! Let’s get into it…

STEP 1… THE BLUELINE. All Sketches are done in BLUELINE, as it’s Non-Photo, easily erasable and has good sketch-flow. I’ve used Col-Erase for years…

STEP 2… THE BLACKLINE. I use a variety of Japanese Ink Pens for this. THIN and THICK versions, but you’ll have to try and see what works for you, so buy a lot of them. PRESSURE is key here and you’ll want to get comfortable in being able to vary your line weight. This gives the sketch PERSONALITY. Easy to do this on a Computer, but HUMAN ERROR is what we want to maintain. It’s what makes human art unique. PERFECTION is not the goal. PERSONALITY is, as it is in humans.

STEP 3… THE SCAN. After the LINE-ART is done, the image is scanned at 300dpi in full. Zip!

STEP 4… THE CLEAN UP. A great deal of time is spent in cleaning up the image. Not to perfection, but to avoid unwanted “nicks” from being in the final image. I take my time here.

STEP 5… THE FILL UP. The Reverse of the Cleanup, as there are areas you’ll want to enhance, add detail or adjust. Be patient and spend some time here as well.

STEP 6… THE COLOR. This is where you’ll need to spend your most time. Understanding COLOR, it’s nuances and REFLECTIONS are LEARNED and then PERSONALLY ENHANCED. Understanding MATERIALS and how they reflect, cores, light sources, reflected light and COLOR becomes your uniqueness. Nobody does it my way and no one will do it yours. Sketch like a Mutherfucker and make it second nature. And EXPLORE DESIGN. Push your abilities BEYOND what you’re comfortable with… and POST IT. Let the world judge you and BE FEARLESS. You’ll learn more and ADVANCE QUICKER. Bumblebee puts my sketches for the store over 2500, but there are SO MANY MORE TO GO!

I’ve included the final image again here and the REAL ’67 BUMBLEBEE below. You’ll see where I’ve adjusted proportions and played with things. Looks amazing ON THE PRODUCTS!~ Have an awesome day, folks!!

NEW SPEED RACER, Bradys, Castles, Blues Bros, Naskar & Bob!

Good Morning, you HEDONOUS HILLBILLIES and welcome to AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE! Super excited today as Fireball launches all-new SPEED RACER ART into the Garage! It’s Rex Racer’s MACH 4 from the Wachowski’s Speed Movie!! Now on MUGS, CANVAS, TEES & MORE!!

DID YOU KNOW?? The Mach 4, Rex Racer’s car in the Speed Racer (2008) film, was a proto-T-180 with a distinct retro look, featuring visible seams, used to teach young Speed to drive, had a gear shifter from a repurposed flight stick, and was designed with a joint system on its rear wheels (unlike the Mach 5’s complex gadgets). It served as an important flashback element, showing Rex’s early racing days before he faked his death with it in the Casa Cristo race!

And meanwhile, ON PLANET FIREBALL… Team Fireball hits the original BRADY BUNCH HOUSE in LA! Have you been? Even the Wagon is out front! The MACH 4 MUG is ready for Action! Fireball’s BLUEBIRD CONCEPT hits the all-new ETSY STORE and a BRAND NEW COLORING BOOK has launched at Barnes & Noble with… CASTLES!!

MORE ART! The BLUES BROTHERS Cop Car, a Private Commission entitled FREE FLOW, a BMW M4 Mugshot, NASKAR GARAGE Zany Zipster, BOB’S BIG BOY SEMI and original Fireball Concept Art from Disney’s ARTEMIS FOWL!

Lastly… more cool SNAPS are coming from this last weekend’s shows to FACEBOOK! Here’s D.J. Lackershire and his crazy-ass CHEVELLE!

Fireball launches bonkers ANIMAL HOUSE DEATHMOBILE ART!!

Good Morning, you ATYPICAL ALOOFS and welcome to today’s MOVIE CAR LAUNCH! And like most of you buttheads, College (if you went) was pretty nuts, so we’re celebrating your survival with the ANIMAL HOUSE DEATHMOBILE!! Now on MUGS, CANVAS & TEES!

DID YOU KNOW?? The Animal House Deathmobile was a customized 1966 Lincoln Continental, built by George Barris, featuring a giant skull-and-teeth grille and a turret, with its “head” taken from the statue of Faber College’s founder, Emil Faber, and famously used in the chaotic homecoming parade scene. Its sturdy Lincoln construction helped it withstand stunts, and replicas are popular rentals, while the original’s whereabouts remain somewhat mysterious. The thick steel of the Lincolns made them surprisingly tough, requiring a skip loader to help damage them for onscreen effects! The vehicle was almost impossible to drive and see out of, so stuntman Bud Ekins often handled it.

Get out there and GET BUSY GETTIN’ SH*T DONE, ppl!
