DID YOU KNOW?? Disneyland’s Autopia cars, designed by Disney Legend & Fireball Pal Bob Gurr, debuted in 1955 based on European sports cars and hot rod culture. These iconic vehicles are the only opening-day Tomorrowland attraction still operating… featuring “belly frame” construction and two gas pedals for shorter drivers. They currently run as a Honda-powered, environmentally friendly “clean fleet.” The 1955 cars were featured in hot rod magazines and featured a chassis designed by Johnny Hartman, a member of the SoCal hot rodding community. Unlike later models, the first cars were built by Mameco, a small, local California company. In 2016, Honda became the sponsor of the attraction, powering the cars with cleaner, more efficient engines.

DID YOU KNOW?? The Andy Griffith Show was primarily filmed in California, not North Carolina, using the Desilu Studios sound stages and the “40 Acres” backlot in Culver City for downtown Mayberry. The iconic opening fishing scene was shot at Franklin Canyon Reservoir in Beverly Hills, while Mount Airy, NC—Andy’s birthplace—serves as the real-life inspiration for the show’s town…. while John Carpenter’s Christine (1983) was primarily filmed around Los Angeles and Santa Clarita, California, often using the same neighborhoods as Halloween. Key, fun locations include the 1100 W. Alameda Ave Pickwick Drive-In in Burbank, the Mobico gas station at 24290 Valencia Blvd, and Arnie’s house at 1037 Buena Vista St, South Pasadena.

And meanwhile, ON PLANET FIREBALL… Fireball busts out the ARK II… *This iconic six-wheeled Ark II vehicle originally built by the BRUBAKER GROUP, led by Curtis Brubaker. It was constructed as a custom fiberglass body fitted onto a 1971 Ford C-Series (C-700) cabover truck chassis. The Brubaker Group also created the smaller companion vehicle, the “Ark Roamer,” based on their Brubaker Box kit car.

DID YOU KNOW?? Adam-12 (1968–1975), created by Dragnet’s Jack Webb, revolutionized police procedurals with intense realism, using real LAPD radio codes, equipment, and a genuine dispatcher, Shaaron Claridge. Starring Martin Milner and Kent McCord, the show featured actual LAPD uniforms and cars, with some episodes used in police academies. The title “1-Adam-12” refers to a 2-man car (Adam) in the 12th district, but technical experts note the show, based in Rampart, should have used a “2” prefix. Jack Webb, who created both shows, used a pseudonym (John Randolph) to direct the Adam-12 pilot because he didn’t want his name in the credits.

DID YOU KNOW?? Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top owns an iconic hot rod collection featuring heavily customized vehicles like the famous 1933 Ford “Eliminator” and the Cadillac-based “CadZZilla”. His cars, often described as “rolling art,” are known for appearing in music videos, having custom Cadillac powerplants, and blending 1950s style with modern, aggressive, “chopped” hot rod aesthetics. But CadZZilla was designed by Larry Erickson and built by Boyd Coddington. Its license plate “I8TOKYO” is a reference to Billy’s love of Godzilla films.

Good Morning, you ATROPHIC ARCHETYPES and welcome to today’s AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE!! Today, Fireball busts out some TRANSFORMERS BUMBLEBEE & OPTIMUS PRIME Art for those that believe that ALIENS ARE ON THE WAY! (It’s good too, ’cause we need neighbors that get sh*t done and Aliens are cool. But hey, that’s me…)

DID YOU KNOW?? The cars in the Transformers movies are primarily built by General Motors (GM), Paramount Pictures, and specialty shops, with many vehicles heavily modified for stunts. Seven 1977 Camaros were destroyed in the first film, and the 2014 Lamborghini Aventador for Age of Extinction was specially custom-built by Automobili Lamborghini. Paramount built thirteen identical Camaros for the first film, costing $45k–$65k each. Many characters were re-imagined as GM vehicles due to a product placement deal, including a Hummer H2 (Ratchet) and GMC Topkick (Ironhide).

What’s up you LILY-LIVERED LOSERS and welcome to today’s AUTOMOTIVE POP CULTURE! 2 Brand News WHIPSNAPS for ya today, right out of the Fireball Garage!! It’s the Classic Iconic GOLDEN SAHARA and a 1939 FORD DELUXE COMMISSION! Let’s get this ball a rollin!

DID YOU KNOW?? The Golden Sahara is a legendary 1953 Lincoln Capri custom, built by George Barris and famously adorned with 24-karat gold trim, pearlescent paint made from fish scales and pioneering lighted tires! It featured early, futuristic technology like remote-controlled operation, automatic braking, and a dashboard TV, making it one of the most famous and opulent custom cars of the 1950s. Goodyear actually designed special synthetic rubber tires with internal illumination, allowing them to glow. The interior featured white mink carpeting, 24-karat gold accents, and a rear cocktail bar. The car also featured a “Unatrol” system which included a lever for steering, acceleration, and braking, along with antennas on the bumper for automatic braking. After appearing in the 1960 movie “Cinderfella,” the car was stored by its owner, Jim Street and was thought to be lost until it resurfaced in 2018. It sold at auction for $385,000 in 2018 and after a $200,000 restoration… would be valued at over a million dollars!!
