I block it out. :)

In all seriousness, with three kids under age 9, I don't have the luxury of sitting in a quiet room for hours and writing. I keep a notebook and jot down ideas (mainly dialogue) and when I do have time, I read what I've written and something usually grabs me.

Remember, every book begins with a sentence. (less)

Great Middle Grad...: New Tween Series by Renata Suerth 1 6 Sep 03, 2013 09:32AM
“You have to write the book that wants to be written. And if the book will be too difficult for grown-ups, then you write it for children.”
Madeleine L'Engle

“Later, I would come to think of those first days as the time when we learned as a species that we had worried over the wrong things: the hole in the ozone layer, the melting of the ice caps, West Nile and swine flu and killer bees. But I guess it never is what you worry over that comes to pass in the end. The real catastrophes are always different—unimagined, unprepared for, unknown.”
Karen Thompson Walker, The Age of Miracles

“I don't know what's worse, being ignored or stared at.”
