Batten Down the Hatches

Today I will be running around trying to find supplies such as batteries and bottled water because the weatherman is telling us we are going to get nearly a direct hit by Hurricane Sandy. Last year on October 29th, we got hit with an autumn noreaster, which dropped a foot of snow and knocked power out for weeks. This time, I'm ready ... e-reader is fully charged, as is the cell phone, car charger for cell is ready, got pleanty of wood for the fireplace, candles, books, food, canned goods, bread, water, and ... dog food (can't forget my pugs). We're ready ... except for the batteries. Am I forgetting anything?
Have you ever had to deal with a power outtage that lasted longer than a day? Have you had to survive through a natural disaster? What did you do?

Be Safe

In my neck of the woods, we are getting ready to take a nearly direct hit by hurricane Sandy. The President has declared our state to be in a state of emergency, and the Governor has mandated that everyone is to stay home unless they are in the evacuation areas. I don't know how much longer we will have power, so I wanted to touch base and tell everyone who lives in New England to stay safe. I'll be back to say Hello when the storm clears and the power comes up (if we lose it). If you are not in the area, please tell us how you prepare for a natural disaster?

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween to all friends, family and fans. Tonight over most of the country, people both young and old will don costumes and walk door to door chanting that familiar phrase, "Trick or Treat" in their quest for candy. But for those of us living in the path of destruction left by Hurricane Sandy, Halloween is postponed. And this, for the second year in a row! Last year an October blizzard left 18" of snow and many without power for weeks.
If you are going out in costume tonight, please be careful and have fun. There is nothing more exciting that dressing up and pretending to be someone or something else for the night. Have a goulishly good time.
