What Hides Within Book Signing and Discussion at Somerset Public Library, October 29, 2012
On October 29, 2012 at 6:30 pm, join me at the Somerset Public Library for a book signing and discussion about What Hides Within, future works, and writing in general. I’ll be happy to entertain any questions aspiring writers may have about getting that first book published, the Patriots, fishsticks, or anything else anyone wants to talk about. Paperback copies of What Hides Within will be available for anyone who wants one. Thanks to the Somerset Public Library for its support. Ironically, my interest in books began there when they hosted Story Time. I was five years-old. Green Eggs and Ham will always be one of my favorite books.

Wrathbone and Other Stories - New Release
Hi everyone! I am proud to announce the release of my new collection, Wrathbone and Other Stories. I hope that you will enjoy it. The title novella, Wrathbone, is a departure from the norm for me, a historical horror culminating from a lot of time and hard work.
https://www.amazon.com/Wrathbone-Othe...
Introduced by Kealan Patrick Burke, here's what it's all about:
Terror follows those who let it into their hearts.
Wrathbone
Guests of President Abraham Lincoln and Mary Todd Lincoln, Major Henry Rathbone and Clara Harris attend a showing of Our American Cousin at Ford's Theatre on April 14, 1865. On that fateful night, a great man falls, but he is not alone. For Henry and Clara, the night is only the beginning of lives wrought with jealousy, madness, and horror.
The Only Good Lawyer
Bradley is a savvy defense attorney with no scruples. Under his representation, many a guilty man has gone free. But when a voodoo priest takes the stand, Bradley soon discovers that he, too, is on trial, and the punishment for guilt may be more than he could bear.
Dorian's Mirror
Dorian loves himself, and why wouldn't he? Every guy wants to be him, and every girl wants to be with him. He would trade all he has to make his looks last forever, but bargaining with the devil may leave him short a soul.
For the Birds
Nev's best friend is his parrot. In fact, it's his only friend… and his only ally when his home is invaded.
Revenge is a Dish
Maurice has landed a dream job, chef for a rich couple on their yacht. The wife has carnal desires for him. Maurice has some carnal desires of his own.
"From the eerie opening tale to the grisly closer, and all of the wonderfully mean-spirited tales in-between, Wrathbone is a winner!" --Jeff Strand, author of Dead Clown Barbeque
"This is horror of the mind at it's very best . . . Very dark, very atmospheric, very powerful writing. Excellent stuff . . . Only the second time ever that I have given every story in a collection five stars. This one is going to be hard to beat." --Nev Murray at Confessions of a Reviewer and Scream Magazine
"Wrathbone and Other Stories is a hard-hitting collection that you can completely immerse yourself in. The title story is a beautifully written period tale of love and tragedy." --Mercedes M. Yardley, author of the Bram Stoker Award winner Little Dead Red.
"Jason Parent channels the darkness. Wrathbone and Other Stories offers a glimpse into the twisted mind of a gifted storyteller, whose characters are every bit as vivid as the demons that haunt them. Parent's definitely an author to watch!" --Michael McBride, author of Subterrestrial and Burial Ground
"An elegantly written novella of madness, murder, and demons, Jason Parent's Wrathbone reads like Edgar Allan Poe's take on 'Jacob's Ladder.'" --Adam Howe, author of Tijuana Donkey Showdown, Die Dog or Eat the Hatchet, and Black Cat Mojo

New Release - People of the Sun
My new sci-fi/dark fantasy novel, People of the Sun, has just been released from Sinister Grin for $2.99.
https://www.amazon.com/People-Sun-Jas...
Here's what a couple of fantastic authors had to say about it:
"Jason Parent has penned a thought-provoking, gripping scifi thriller. This isn't your grandma's alien invasion. My own world stopped the moment I stepped into People of the Sun. Lovers of science fiction, horror and even super heroes will revel in this roller-coaster of a tale. A true must-read!" Hunter Shea, author of We Are Always Watching and The Jersey Devil
“With his own indelible blend of tension and dark humor, Jason Parent’s latest page-turner reminds me of what you’d get if you crossed Isaac Asimov with Kurt Vonnegut. In addition to being fast-paced and wildly entertaining, Parent’s novel also offers the occasional flash of insight into the human (and not-so-human) condition, and displays Parent’s talent for turning a given genre on its head.” -Michael Meyerhofer, author of The Dragonkin Trilogy

Chester's Back! Victoria now available...
It was only a matter of time before I revisited a certain malevolent bitch of a spider, but Victoria is a whole new type of story built into the What Hides Within universe. Taking place 8 years after the events of What Hides Within, the novel explores what a teenage Victoria has become after walking out of her home with a rather nasty bug in her ear.
Told primarily from Victoria's perspective (and a bit of Chester's as well), this book is a stand-alone work. It has a much different feel than WHW, more of a horror/thriller like Seeing Evil, but with a touch of the humor that many enjoyed in the first novel. It is intended to appeal to young adult and adult fans alike, a wicked twist on the coming-of-age type tale full of adventure and thrills. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did writing it! Thanks for giving it a look, and Happy Holidays!

Down in the Deep Dark Places - New collection!
Hello!
Down in the Deep Dark Places, a collection of my best short stories from the past 15 years, as well as six brand new tales of terror, is now available in paperback, ebook and limited edition hardcover.
https://www.amazon.com/Down-Deep-Plac...
In this collection, Jason Parent gathers nineteen devilish tales (six never before published) that plunge the reader headfirst into a whirlpool of nightmares, each more terrifying than the last. From high up on the hills to far below the surface, from lush forest to barren desert to deepest sea to blackest space, a monstrous pilgrimage awaits those who travel these pages that blends horror, science fiction, and, at times, humor, in a way that will not leave visitors unscathed. The reader will journey alongside a wickedly diverse set of protagonists, making one thing abundantly clear: no matter who you are or where you may be, the darkness can and will find you.
· A castaway finds a terrible strength to survive, while another finds strength in thoughts of revenge.
· A desperate father turns to the supernatural as a means to be with his daughter.
· A group of American soldiers finds there are worse things than insurgents beneath the mountains of Afghanistan.
· A priest resists an unholy temptation from a strangely disfigured ward.
· An astronaut discovers that even in the emptiness of space, something will hear her scream.
Horrifying and hauntingly perverse, Parent’s collection invites you to delve into deeper and darker places with every tale. How deep into the darkness will you go?
Limited edition hardcover available here!
