After growing up on a dairy farm in Tennessee, Jeff High attained degrees in literature and nursing. He is the award winning and best selling author of four books in the Watervalley Series.

He lived in Nashville for many years, and throughout the country as a travel nurse, before returning to his original hometown of Columbia, Tennessee. He remains in the medical field and divides his time between family and his small farm (appropriately named Summerfield,) in the rural hills of Middle Tennessee.

Hi Lisa,
Yes! After taking a little time off, I am working on book four in the Watervalley series. Not sure about the title, but I am truly excited about the story. Likely it will be available sometime in 2017. Thanks for your inquiry. I'm writing as fast as I can!

All the best,

The brilliant development of their relationship is beautifully written and should be taught as a template for how to draw the reader, body and soul, into a story.

A close second is Dr. Yuri Zhivago and Lara Antipova in "Dr. Zhivago" by Boris Pasternak. Set against the tumultuous backdrop of the Russian Revolution, the relationship is masterfully developed and ultimately, is just absolutely heart wrenching. Every relationship has drama, much of which is created by the choices of the two characters. But when larger events impose drama on a relationship, (such as an entire country in upheaval) it captures our hearts and imaginations to the fullest. (less)

More Things In Heaven and Earth by Jeff High
"This series was mentioned as one that has a similar feel to Jan Karon’s Mitford series. I agree. I does have the same small town, case of quirky characters. Instead of a 60 something Episcopal priest, the main character here is a 20 something young d" Read more of this review »

"A good start to the Watervalley series, sometimes funny but mostly very serious and quite interesting. A young doctor is forced to take a position in a small town and take care of its quirky residents. Most of the time, he feels he doesn't belong. He" Read more of this review »

"Absolutely wonderful story. It reads like it's a true story. Parts are hysterically funny, others are touching. The dialogue is so real. One of the few books of fiction which I had to rate as 5 star."

Jeff High, Each Shining Hour

“My arrival in Watervalley had been so botched. But arrivals had never been a grand affair for me. Years earlier, when I had ventured fresh-faced into the new world of private school in Atlanta, neither I nor my classmates had looked upon my arrival with anticipation. It was a place of academic competition, clever banter, and high regard for social standing. I was a stranger, uncertain and turned inward, who had learned to sit in the back of the class and observe and assess those around me. In time I learned to adapt, to become part of the pack, to create an acceptable version of myself.”
