Carl Weaver is a writer and photographer living in the Washington, DC area. He is the president of Broken Column Press, LLC, an independent publishing company with a number of popular titles.

In addition to traveling to Thailand, Weaver has also eaten brown cheese in Bergen, Norway; watched footie matches on the telly in London pubs; scoured Albuquerque and Santa Fe for the best huevos rancheros; and even photographed Kansas City, Missouri from the top of the famous Liberty Memorial. Weaver, a traveling man by profession, is a perpetual nomad and considers himself to be the last of the Renaissance men and the luckiest guy in the world.

Not for music, chatting, having coffee, or anything else - just for writing. You have to build this discipline, just like a runner has to build up to a marathon. Keep working at it. You will get there!(less)

You cannot depend on the muse alighting on the tip of your pen and your mind being moved by God's creation.

That said, you can set up all the right things to be productive, and by doing so, create a space and time in which you feel inspired. Sometimes physical exercise helps. Sometimes reading others' works. Sometimes rewriting or editing the last thing I wrote yesterday. Whatever it is for you, find it and tap into it. Try new things. Keep working hard at it.(less)

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
“To be a man is, precisely, to be responsible. It is to feel shame at the sight of what seems to be unmerited misery. It is to take pride in a victory won by one's comrades. It is to feel, when setting one's stone, that one is contributing to the building of the world.”
