Eulogy for Mom

December 8, 1924 - June 8, 2019 Back in the day, when my siblings and I were growing up, children were sometimes left in the dark. We learned many tidbits of information about our parents later on in life. So unbeknownst to us, our Mom, whom we simply knew as Mary Benevento, was officially born Maria Immaculata Schiano-DiCola. Maria Immaculata was THE PERFECT first and middle names for Mom as she certainly possessed purity of heart. Her kind, gentle soul was indeed Godly in nature. Take time...

TRAMPLED UNDERFOOT:
REVISED NOTES AND ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

For those who have read Trampled Underfoot and are curious as to the characters' future beyond what was written within the pages of this book, I have revised the notes and acknowledgments page for you to read here.     This book never would’ve seen publication if it weren’t for the gentle urging from a talented fellow author, L.F. Falconer. Her kind encouragement, for me to keep telling my stories, helped me continue with chapter one, which had been collecting dust as an unfinished, rough dra...

So You've Wanted To Write a Book?

Well then, just like those old Nike commercials that have been embedded into our brains, I say Just Do It. But I'd bet money on the notion you've been procrastinating for years, or that you've already started something but it's collecting dust either on your computer or in a desk drawer somewhere.First off, if you already have a WIP (Work in Progress) manuscript gathering those dust bunnies, why not take it out, examine what you've already written thus far. Even if you haven't started writing...

When Your Body's Screaming at You . . . Listen to It! (Dumb Ass)

Funny thing is,I always considered myself to be a smart personand a womanwho was fully intunewith her own body. But my body hadbeen screaming at me for years, sayingYOU NEED MAGNESIUM, YOU DUMB ASS. In my own defense,I thought I had it all covered. Apparently, I didn't know what I didn't know.Dumb ass!Me:Don't start.I'm sorry. I was, ahem, rudely interrupted. That won't happen again.Anyway . . .my experience with Natural Calm brand of Magnesium Citrate fizzy powdergave me muscle twitches andsp...

How to Ruin Your Health in 7 Easy Steps

Yes, you read that correctly. I said ruin, not improve. But laterI'll tell you how to improve or, rather, prevent this very thing from happening to you. Here, below, are 7steps Itook (*specificallyin2014) to ruin my health.1.Drink lots of 12 ounce cup-loads of coffee, every morning of every day.Is that bad?Because I love coffee. America runs on Dunkin', you know. (Dunkin' Donuts coffee, if you're not familiar)2.Take loads of Vitamin D3--8,000 to 10,000 IU-- per day.*Hey, back off.I needed to b...

Same Book, New Look

Yes, indeed...I did it! After much internal debate, I decided to use an alternate cover design to Trampled Underfoot: The Dirt on Vic and Lia. And the response to this change is overwhelmingly fantastic. As I mentioned in my last blog post, I thought the first cover may have been a little off-putting and unclear. It may have been viewed as a story about a vintage 1969 automobile! This story is so much more than being about a car, although a 1969 Mustang Mach I does make appearances as an

You Can't Judge A Book by its Cover

Out of these two books, which one catches your eye first? Which would you choose to take the time to read the synopsis? Which one would you add to your Goodreads or Shelfari bookshelves? Well, based on the response from my recently completed Goodreads Giveaway of both of these books, I would say EVERYONE judges a book by its cover. I do it, you do it, we all do it. Both books' giveaways started and ended on the same exact dates. The giveaways lasted for one month, and it is so intriguing to me

Chapter 18 - Fate Realized, 38 Years in the Making

In Just Another Sunday, the first of two books in the series I call my Fate books, the multi-plot story-line deals with the interplay between Fate and free-will choices, and certain passages within this book have been talked about as being ho-hum unnecessary banter, serving no purposeful role in the story. One such passage is an entire chapter, Chapter 18.   I, as the author, disagree, and I stand by the inclusion of the seemingly irrelevant dialogue in Chapter 18. I'll explain, but first I'll

My Shih-tzu, Saverio - a Wonderful Life

This will be my final post about my darling Shih-tzu, Saverio, our departed furry family member of 16 years. It's been one month since he was 'put to sleep' by our Vet. I hate that term, but there is no best way to say it. Perhap, it would be better to say, "When the Vet helped him over the Rainbow Bridge."    But this post is about Saverio's wonderful life that he gave both my husband and I. We, in turn, provided Saverio with a good home and all the love and affection a pet could ever possibly

Saverio and the Aging Process-Part IV-R.I.P.

My last three posts about my precious Saverio dealt with the process of his aging. This post, unfortunately, deals with the sudden decline and death of my dearly beloved furry child of 16 years. It was only this past Wednesday, 12/2/2015, he had to be humanely put to sleep. I am still in shock, still reeling, still in a state of utter grief as I write this post in a too quiet, lonely house.   I want to believe he is sleeping somewhere on his many comfortable places in my home, whether it be the
