With the exception of the eight years spent living in Sydney and the Hunter Valley in NSW, I have spent all my time in Far North Queensland and this has undoubtedly shaped me and my writing. There is a different rhythm to life in the Tropics, which isn't unpleasant, although the intense heat definitely is (which is why I have now literally relocated to a mountain in Southern Queensland). I carried the idea for my first novel around with me for approximately ten years before finally completing it and haven't stopped since.
