Jean Oram is starting Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: Definitely about his addictions. A little confusing at times because he’ll say he’s earning $5000 a week and then he goes to Vegas with friends and wins $2600, which he says is more than any of them has ever seen. I think there is a bit of assumed knowledge about what being in rehab is like as well. Like why are they now giving him 1800 mg of OxyContin if he is supposed to be getting off stuff?

John McClarren Hey Jean,
It has been a while. I know you have a mile-long list of books to read, but, at the same time, if I have not already told you, I now have my memoir out, and I think you like to read that genre also, AND I did not want to leave you out of the loop. Allow me to include here my generic promo letter I am sending out to everyone I can think of.

Just getting the word out to all my contacts, family, friends and associates; my memoir, TAKING RISKS DEFINING LIFE A SOLDIER’S MEMOIR, is finally out and available practically everywhere. It follows MILITARY LIFE – SERVICE OR CAREER A SOLDIER’S PERSPECTIVE, which came out September of last year. If you did read the first one, and enjoyed the read, then you should also enjoy this one. You may learn much more about me than you ever wanted to know, but with memoirs that just kind of goes with the territory, right? There is probably considerably more humor in the memoir than with the previous book. There will be a little overlap when it comes to the military chapters, in that the military was a huge part of my life, but the emphasis and focus are completely different, and, of course, there is a whole lot more to my life than the US Army. It was wrought with risk-taking from toddler age on, and it is not by any means over yet. Come along with me on this trip. I think you’ll like it. For those of you who think you know me, you may find that there is a great deal you did not know, for better or for worse. You may be able to identify with many of my experiences, or you might well contrast your own way of thinking. Hey, it only costs the price of an average meal out, much worth it, in my ever-so-humble opinion. Let me know if you’d like a signed copy of either book (or both if you never read the first one and enjoy reading military stories). I can be reached at jrmcclarren@gmail.com or you can read the intros to both books at my website: www.johnrmcclarren.com. I hope to hear from you. Later. John
