How do you deal with writer’s block?

Lauren Courcelle I feel very lucky in that I don't often get writer's block. If I get temporarily stuck on a story, I work on another book for a while until I can come…moreI feel very lucky in that I don't often get writer's block. If I get temporarily stuck on a story, I work on another book for a while until I can come back with a fresh eye for what I've written and take off on it again. Another tactic I use is to do something non-writing but artsy like paint a painting, knit a scarf, or make beaded jewelry. More often than not though, I try to give myself a day or a weekend off from writing and find myself waking up exceptionally early on the first morning of said break and writing like wildfire. I guess I just have too many stories bouncing around my head and need to get them out.(less)
