| ‘The Secrets of the Alethi’ is an excellent sequel to ‘The Centauri Survivors’, having the same style and flow as the previous book whilst developing the themes, progressing the world building and developing the main characters. We get to see a lot m ...more | |

| In every job I’ve done (and there’s been a few) people have enjoyed ‘talking shop’ – exchanging stories, advice, warnings and so on. I’ve found this to be especially true of writers: perhaps because we spend so much of our working time on our own, al ...more | |

added a status update: Hey Goodreads, in case any fans of my Amaranthine Spectrum series didn't know, I have a new book out (under my interdimensional pen name Caspar Geon) called the Immeasurable Heaven. The book's had some nice reviews so far, and it was a hell of a lot of fun to write. Will update a bit more regularly (more than once every ten years), hopefully with some more news on even newer books very soon.

| I know Tad Williams work best from some of his series, such as 'The Dragon Bone Chair' and 'Otherland', which I read some time ago but have good memories of. Long, but never slow. It has been a while since I read them, though, so when I came across t ...more | |
“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”
