Kairi Look is an Estonian writer. She writes prose and children's books which have been awarded and translated to many languages.

In 2025 her debut novel "Dance the Dust from the Floor" was published which examines the spaces and boundaries of a childhood and a generation in the crumbling society of the 1980s and newly independent Estonia, and is boldly exploratory in form. It earned Look the title of Writer of the Year and two best novel awards by bookstore chains Rahva Raamat and Apollo; it was one of the most talked-about literary events of 2025.

She has also written short stories. In 2018, she won the annual prize of the journal Looming for her short story Relaps.

She has translated fiction and children's books from Dutch to Estonian.

“TULE KOHE KÕHT TÜHI TUJU VÄGA HALB
T.”
Kairi Look

„Mul on täna lihtsalt ainus vaba hetk. Mirjamit pole kodus.”

“I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.”
Terry Pratchett, Sourcery

“When I was a child, adults would tell me not to make things up, warning me of what would happen if I did. As far as I can tell so far, it seems to involve lots of foreign travel and not having to get up too early in the morning.”
Neil Gaiman, Smoke and Mirrors: Short Fiction and Illusions

“No Fridolf, bother all this learning. I can't study anymore because I must climb the mast to see what kind of weather we're going to have tomorrow.”
Astrid Lindgren, Pippi Longstocking

“When his life was ruined, his family killed, his farm destroyed, Job knelt down on the ground and yelled up to the heavens, "Why god? Why me?" and the thundering voice of God answered, There's just something about you that pisses me off.”
Stephen King, Storm of the Century

“The road to hell is paved with adverbs.”
Stephen King, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft
