John D. Sperry was born in Bellflower, California in 1979, but relocated with his family in 1985 to the small town of Roseburg, Oregon, the place John would call home until he left on a two-year LDS mission to Italy in 1998.
In 2001, John married the love of his life, Sarah, and, in the midst of earning two degrees from the University of Oregon, the couple had four children: Arwen, Eleanor, Jack, Alice, and Caramina.
John earned a B.A. in English in 2007, and a M.Ed. in Teaching and Learning in 2008. He is currently a 7th Grade Language Arts and Social Studies teacher in Springfield, Oregon where he lives with his family.

Sometimes I will go back and read my own work--generally the work that has blocked me--or I will read someone else's work. When I read the work of another author, it often inspires me and helps me through the block. This has proven effective on a few occasions. (less)
