Kunal K. Das is a Professor of Physics and an active researcher in the fields of Nanotechnology and Ultracold Atoms with ongoing funding from the National Science Foundation. He has authored dozens of refereed journal publications and has held teaching and research appointments at several institutions including SUNY, Penn State, Fordham, Optical Sciences Center, and the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. Atypically for a physicist, he has a lifelong interest in the humanities and pop culture and a passion for classic literature, giving him a unique view of physical laws from the perspective of broader human experiences. “disorder in physics means exactly what we understand by the word in everyday life. Just as with my little sketch above about the messy bedroom, we know only too well from experience that in general if we don’t make any effort, any bunch of things would eventually become more disorderly and messy. Now, you can officially stop blaming yourself and the people around you for all the mess, because it really has got nothing to do with human behavior per se. It just happens to be a very basic law of the universe, the most basic, in fact.
