Travis D. Johnson lives in St. Augustine, Florida—the oldest continuously inhabited European settlement in the United States—where centuries of accumulated stories seep up through the ground.
He's been writing horror since age four and saw his poetry launched into orbit aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery at eleven. His work draws from pre-war country blues, silent cinema, medieval romance, and the darker corners of American folklore.
In 2025, he founded Frolic Press to publish uncanny literature and give new life to overlooked voices in weird fiction.
As a member of Tale Tellers of St. Augustine, a folklore society and storytellers' guild, he performs traditional folktales at events throughout the region.

I don't like Amazon. I especially don't like buying books from Amazon.
It's probably not necessary for me to tell you why I don't like Amazon; you've heard it before. In fact, it's not improbable that you feel the same way.
When I started a small press last year, I wondered whether it would be financially feasible to simply not sell through Amazon. I decided I ought to try.
Turns out I can't, really. Read more of this blog post »
