The Court of Ranternal Affairs is Now in Session

Did you know Calum P Cameron now has a new website for hosting his shorter works (and maybe, in the future, some of his longer works?)

If so, how? This thing only went live, like, yesterday.

Well, either way, you can find it here:

IMPORTANT NOTICE

I've been putting this off for a while now, but I have to write it sooner or later.

As of the 11th of April this year, William Fraser Publishing - the organisation that currently facilitates the availability of the three books thus far published in the Mediochre Q Seth series - will no longer be in operation.

Sadly, this is an issue out of the hands of both me and my publisher. For financial reasons, the organisation is not in any position to continue. It is in the nature of capitalism to sooner or later kill any small businesses that aren't both very good at what they do and lucky enough to avoid disaster. Turns out, one way or another, that's not us.

The three books of the Mediochre Q Seth series thus far published will continue to be available from Lulu.com and Amazon (among others) until the 11th of April. After that they will be unavailable until further notice.

I'm aware that some of you are already invested in this series and its story, and as such my intention is to eventually find some way to get those three books published again, along with the remaining two. If all else fails I will be looking into self-publishing. If even that fails, I shall do what I can to make the texts available through any other method. Unfortunately, I cannot say how long these processes will take.

My apologies to those of you for whom this is bad news.

Goodnight, friends (but not goodbye?),

Calum P Cameron

Until the Ripples They Cause in the World Die Away

Last night, it was with great resignation that I accepted the revelation that one of my various authorial pipe-dreams shall never come to pass.

Specifically, my work will never be read by Sir Terry Prachett.

When I first made a serious commitment to creative writing as a hobby, it was because I was a child who really wanted to be a bit like Terry Pratchett.

I have trouble classifying myself, genre-wise. The best (or possibly just 'funniest') label I could come up with for the Mediochre Q Seth series was Modern Comic Urban Fantasy Young Adult Novel Series with Dragons and Stuff, or (as I insist it is to be pronounced) "Mod-Com-Urb-Fan-YA-No-Ser-with-Drag-n-Stuff" - but that's actually pretty simple compared to some of the other stuff I've written that's currently sitting on my hard drive.

When I think about it, "A Child Who Really Wants to be a Bit Like Terry Pratchett" is as good a summary of my writing style as any.

Having wandered off of the bromeliad of mortality, he leaves the world suddenly smaller and less marvellous. I suspect he would have thought it was our duty as writers and readers to go out there and make it bigger and more marvellous again as best we can.

I suspect he would have worded it more wittily and possibly more irreverantly, also.

Today is the first day of the post-Prachett era. Let us make sure not to screw it up.

Read Tuesday

So, apparently, December the 9th is now Read Tuesday.

The idea is, I understand, somewhat akin to the American "Black Friday", except with less people getting stepped on in shopping malls and more people putting special offers on their books.

For this reason, from Friday 28th of November to Tuesday 9th December, copies of 'The Good, the Bad and the Mediochre' will be FREE.

Following this, from Tuesday the 9th of December to Tuesday the 16th of December, copies of the sequel, 'Black, White and Shades of Mediochre' will be, if not necessarily free, cheaper than usual.

Go ye all to Amazon, then, and purchase (or acquire for free) fantabulous readable Christmas gifts!

And please, everyone, do spread the word.

Calum P Cameron out.

My First Book is Free Right Now!

'The Good, the Bad and the Mediochre' is free as an eBook for the next five days if you buy it from Amazon at this link!

And when I say "free", I mean it literally costs you zero money. At all. You have nothing to lose here, and potentially much to gain. Just sayin'.

Go download a copy.

Now.

Do not make me release the hounds.

Yours threateningly,

Happy buying,

BOOK THREE PRERELEASE!

Two things:

Firstly, it is now less than a week until the release of book three.

Secondly, and perhaps of even greater importance, my publisher tells me that the following link will potentially allow you to get your hands on one of a limited number of discounted prerelease editions (which, to all practical purposes, are just the exact same book but like 75% of the price.)

Don't say I'm not good to you.

BOOK THREE RELEASE DATE DETAILS

Attention, proud and humble denizens of this noble series of metaphorical tubes that we call the internet!

In accordance with arrangements between William Fraser Publishing and the monolithic institution that is Amazon, 'Caught Mediochre-Handed', third instalment in the moderately successful Mediochre Q Seth series, will be officially released around the internet in August/September.

But let's be honest here. You don't wanna wait that long. I don't wanna wait that long. Nobody wants to wait that long. So it has been agreed to cut a few corners by bringing the release date for Lulu.com forward from the intertubes-wide release date.

So, in honour of Mediochre himself and as an R.I.P. to his fallen comrade Pigeon, 'Caught Mediochre-Handed' will be available from Lulu.com as of the 17th of July.

Does that require an exclamation mark? I think that probably requires an exclamation mark. Lemme try that again:

In honour of Mediochre himself and as an R.I.P. to his fallen comrade Pigeon, 'Caught Mediochre-Handed' will be available from Lulu.com as of the 17th of July!

Remember, folks:

July. 17th. Lulu. Caught Mediochre Handed.

Pigeon.

Intertubes.

Yours monolithically,

Calum P Cameron

Get Caught Mediochre Handed this September

The third book in the Mediochre Q Seth series - entitled 'Caught Mediochre Handed' because we had a running theme of gradually-worsening puns going on there - is now edited, proof-read and scheduled to be published around September time!

In addition to delving a little more into Mediochre's long and largely-enigmatic past, this third book has a veritable smorgasbord of new villains needing dealt with (although none of them are technically sandwiches) as Maccabeus Fervour's Mantically Aware Britain suffers the consequences of, well, being run by Maccabeus Fervour. There will be peril and questionable decisions all around. There will be not-infrequent bad jokes. There will also be Mediochre's first on-page kiss, if any of you are into that, but I won't spoil too much about that here. There will, in short, be all kinds of stuff.

Can't wait til September? Take a look at the Book of the Face, here, for a little preview, to find out in greater detail some of what our heroes are gonna be up against.

Stay excited, my loyal subjects.

Yours Thirdly,

Calum P Cameron

Can a Fellow be a Villain all his Life? (Reviewing the Situation II)

K peeps, my publisher tells me I need more reviews, probably for deeply-important reasons which will be mutually beneficial to all of us. SO! If you have read either 'The Good, the Bad and the Mediochre' or 'Black, White and Shades of Mediochre' (or both), please take a moment or two to go type up a review, of whatever length you deem appropriate.

Such reviews would be most helpful if posted to Amazon, but I am led to believe that other sites are available.

Thanks, interweb peoples!

Yours Requestingly,

Calum P Cameron
