Alison Butler was born in the 1970s in Liverpool. She's married to Dave, is a proud northerner and is the mother of 4 children . An interest in the history of crime, punishment and torture resulted in her writing her first novel - The Hanging of Margaret Dickson, based on the true story of a convicted 18th century Scottish fishwife.
