I'm a former journalist who worked for The Western Mail newspaper and BBC Wales Today in Cardiff before becoming a press officer for the police.

My latest novel The Beach House is out in ebook and paperback now.. My previous novel, Wilderness has been adapted for TV by Firebird and Amazon Prime, starring Jenna Coleman and Oliver Jackson-Cohen. My previous books, Halfway and Where She Went are published by LittleBrown (Hachette) under the name BE Jones. Take a look at my second profile on here under BE Jones.

Hiya Keith,

My first favourite, after Enid Blyton of course, was Stephen King when I was 14! Scared me fairly silly but what great storytelling. As I got older I developed a penchant for crime with PD James and Ruth Rendell/Barbara Vine at the top of my addiction - I liked the 'psychological' aspects of 'ordinary' people making little decisions leading to terrible consequences - Barbara Vine's 'Fatal Inversion' was a revelation at 16 and at 18, like many people Donna Tartt's Secret History blew me away with it's truly horrible protagonists.

I think I have brought elements of these to my own writing (what, who said anything about stealing??;) ). Now I love Margaret Atwood, Kate Atkinson and have developed a taste for Gillian Flynn. Though I don't write sci-fi I love to read it and my guilty pleasures are Ray Bradbury and Philip K Dick.

Who are your faves, Keith?(less)

If you find a great solution to this problem, let me know! As a keen reader as well as a writer I've found it works well to join a group in a genre you like, that way you will see what the members are reading and reviewing and pick up good hints and recommendations. Most groups also have a thread for authors to plug their new books and post giveaways. Eg I'm a member of the group Psychological Thrillers and I'm now reading Night film by Marissa Pessl on the back of a personal recommendation. You'll find loads of groups on the home page. Enjoy :)(less)

I wonder if Beverley takes these “Busman’s Holidays” alone, or if she has very understanding travel companions!

A lovely post and great news abut the TV option! 🙂
