How to Write Time as a Character.

The first time I understood what time actually was, I was kneeling in a trench in Israel in the early eighties.
Last century, thank you. It was my summer vacation, which for archaeology students means volunteering to be slowly cooked. We drank warm water out of jerry cans and none of us could feel our knees by ten in the morning.
