Jo: Clea, tell us about yourself.
Clea: I write dirty stories. Are you going to eat this?
Jo: No, go ahead. Tell us about your stories.
Clea: I don't think they'd like that much. This is sort of a family friendly place. I think these donuts are stale.
Jo: Just don't be explicit. Just give us an idea.
Clea: Well, they're kind of weird.
Jo: Weird? In what way?
Clea: Supernatural. Fantastic. I watch a lot of B horror movies. I read a lot of fantasy. And, you know, my mind wanders...
Jo: So you don't write a lot of mainstream stuff? Billionaires, bikers. That kind of thing.

Generally, writer's block isn't a problem for me.

I think writer's block is mostly performance anxiety; the fear that your writing won't live up to your own standards or the standards of other people.

I'm pretty shameless when it comes to my writing, so I don't worry that much about what people will think of the content. That removes a huge barrier to my creativity; if I had the time and energy, I could write non-stop for the rest of my life and never run out of ideas because my brain is constantly generating new material.

Writer's block isn't my problem; my problem is deciding which story to work on.(less)

Beauty in Absurdity

My goal as an artist has always been to take preposterous things and turn them into beautiful and interesting things. For me, there's something compelling about absurdity; it reminds me of the mystery and spontaneity -- the humor -- of life. By taking something absurd and "making it work", giving it plausibility and rationality, I inject some of that mystery and spontaneity back into a world which Read more of this blog post »

yup, it's my turn again. sorry this is coming so late, but i have had some bullllshit going on. i am setting up a short poll (heh) so we can get on it fast (heh). hopefully this will be better than last time, and maybe we can at least get a chuckle if it's bad!

note: forced to mate with the mermen has had its title changed (on bn anyway) to mounted and bred by the mermen, if you are looking for it.
