Marilyn Bay Wentz grew up on a farm in northern Colorado, near the land homesteaded by her great-great grandparents. Today she is an avid gardener and loves to freeze, can and dry food and herbs from her substantial garden. As a result, she has taken the view that more than one trip per month to the grocery store is too much. In addition to writing and editing agricultural publications, she operates Prairie Natural Lamb. She enjoys training horses and is a certified Colorado 4-H horse show judge and level rater. Prairie Truth is the story of the next generation. It is set in 1886 Colorado and delves into the history of the San Luis Valley and its Spanish and Mexican land grants. In addition, I am very excited about a non-fiction book project under contract with Cladach Publishing, currently titled "All We Like Sheep--Lessons from the Sheepfold." I and my mother are using the stories of our collective seven decades of raising sheep to discuss the spiritual lessons our sheep have taught us. "All We Like Sheep--Lessons from the Sheepfold." is scheduled for release the spring of 2015.(less)

Extensive research about this time period in Colorado and trips across the prairie where abandoned homesteads really got my imagination going catapulted me into this writing journey just a few years ago. Initially touted by Colonel Chivington as a military victory, the massacre t
