“Would you ever seek their advice?” His question is jarring and throws me for a second. I let his words roll around in my head, seeking any answer besides the immediate no I wanted to blurt. His fingers slide up my jaw until they press in on my cheeks, making my lips stick out in that weird, child-like, “fishy-lips” way as his eyes ask me well? I shake my head and say no, it comes out sounding more like whoa from the obstruction of his fingers. “That’s right, babes, you wouldn’t. So, don’t seek their opinion of you, either.”
