Three years ago, I had written this bio in the third person and from a place of ignorance. I thought about how I wanted you to see me and know of me, rather than giving you me as I am. So I'll keep it simple. I'm a family man and a veteran. I don't screw around with anything I don't think will help people feel something. That's why I write, because I want you to feel and do outside of what you have in the past. So you might see a clear representation of war in my stories or vulnerability, and not without courage. Because if there is one thing that excites me, it's people who put themselves out there in the eyes of their peers to be judged.
In the coming years, Im going to give you a look at my imagination. Take it or leave it, I'm a person

The character poll on my website reveals Theodore Crane's best friend Lincoln Royce as the favorite. I then do my best to avoid the scientific flaws this poll presents.
A few months ago, I took these data findings to a book signing at a middle school, here in Minnesota. After asking the children who their favorite was and why, I confirmed something about my characters for myself. Not only was Lincoln the students' favorite character, the students had sound reasons for their answers. Lincoln is incisive and bright. He is a true friend and this doesn't go unnoticed.
I never intended for Lincoln to be the favorite and figure it has a lot to do with allowing characters to pursue their role in a story. Lincoln simply found the spotlight through his dedication as a friend.
Coming in at a very close second place finish is Mariah, and Theodore is not far behind her in this character poll. Mariah is a fighter. She sees a problem for what it is and develops a solution. Her adaptability and strength gives her an edge.
This story is about developing courage and using it in life. Theodore Crane is the epitome of courageous. He is able to look beyond his existence and accept his role as a galactic leader and warrior.
The Acolytes of Crane has a supporting cast and I would be ashamed of myself for omitting any of the following favorites. ED (Emergency Device) is a quirky robot, who is sort of a sidekick and mentor. Liam is quiet, skeptical at times, but he is the crew's protector. Dan is a skateboarder with absolutely no fear, sometimes to a fault, but he is the straw stirring the entertainment drink. It seems there is someone for everybody.(less)
J.D. Tew I never end a writing session without a plan for the next.
