I guess my favorite Clarke would have to be Rendezvous with Rama, although the last time I read it was in college, I think. I did recently re-read Childhood's End and was shocked to see just how many of my interests in adulthood showed up in that book (which I initially read as a teenager, probably). Very depressing, though, so I can't call it a favorite! Reading this little Clarke book was very accidental, and I'm not trying to get through the old ones again - more interested in reading new scifi and discovering new authors!(less)

MidYear Reset

It’s almost July, which means the year will be half over in a couple of days. Time for my usual mid-year reset, which I almost always end up doing. I set out goals for the year in January but by this point I usually find I’ve either changed my mind about what I want to do, or life has changed my mind for me. I’ll be thinking about this over the next few days and reassessing my plans from now

Amazing debut! Masterful writing, and the way Kim handles a very complex POV challenge is impressive. The story is timely and, like good science fiction, makes a relevant point about our actual world through a speculative story where the world is ver ...more

There are some amazing stories in this collection, especially those from the 1930s and 40s. Also the 50s! I actually did not finish the entire thing since the last few (from the 1990s) were just so depressing and I didn't want to be in the worlds the ...more
