I guess my favorite Clarke would have to be Rendezvous with Rama, although the last time I read it was in college, I think. I did recently re-read Childhood's End and was shocked to see just how many of my interests in adulthood showed up in that book (which I initially read as a teenager, probably). Very depressing, though, so I can't call it a favorite! Reading this little Clarke book was very accidental, and I'm not trying to get through the old ones again - more interested in reading new scifi and discovering new authors!(less)

Another Novel?

Yes, dear reader, I am writing yet another novel, thanks to Novel Writing Month, formerly known as NaNoWriMo. I have been participating in this for years, and as I wrote last month, just because the sponsoring organization folded earlier this year, I wasn’t about to stop in 2025.

I’d decided I was going to do this challenge on my own, and try to write 50,000 words on this new novel project this

Amazing, poetic story of the life of a man who, as a boy, survived a coal mine disaster. Reading this book was challenging at first, since it is told in prose with no sentences - not a single period in it - but after awhile, the voice made its way in ...more
